I am a clinical social worker who works for an hospital. I have a young man age 53 who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. He has no family and draws, an income of around 1100 dollars a month. He has not been able to afford burial insurance due to the cost of his medications that take a huge part of his income. I would like to know if Los Angeles California has a Program THAT WILL Pay for His Funeral expenses. Although he has family they refuse to visit him or assist with funeral arrangements. Please contact me in regards to this. I truly appreciate your immediate response. Respectfully.

We are so sorry to hear of the terminal illness. Especially at the young age of 51. There are ways to get help with funeral bills or find discounts on the service. Maybe a free cremation, coffin, or similar help is given too.

My name is Delilah. My brother Kenneth is the next of kin to the late, Andrea Lii who recently died in California. We both, are retired and receiving S.S. Being that our income are limited. we cannot afford to pay for the high cost of the funeral expenses in California. I would like to know if your agency could please help us with a grant that would cover the high cost of these expenses. My cousin Andrea Lii had passed away from a terminal illness in March 2024. Her body is still in the Morgue. We would be so grateful if your agency could assist us with the financial grant so we can properly put Andrea's remains to rest in peace.
Please let us know asap if there is anyway that your agency can help us with our unfortunate situation.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration

Hi Delilah and Kenneth
We are sorry for your loss of Andrea Lii. Try Human Services /DSS in California. Many local offices help the poor and people with no life insurance pay for a funeral - or most likely cremation. Find benefits in CA for your county using this guide.
