Army Reserve member is struggling

Post by Kirkpatrick »

To whom it may concern, I am in the Army Reserves and I recently went on orders for an army school. I have been back for several weeks and haven't been paid for my duty yet. I took time from my civilian job to go on orders, and I am in a tough financial spot from not having been paid in 6 weeks from my civilian job or the Army and my wife is a stay at home parent right now. I was curious if there is any type of loan I may be able to get to help me with June rent.

We known many payday lenders operate near bases and/or target the military. Stay away from them. They are risky and high priced. Instead look into one of the alternatives to Payday loans, as there are several options out there.
Also, why is it taking 6 weeks to be paid? Normally it is a week or two in a civilian role. Something sounds off there.

I’ve never tried anything like this so I was hoping you could give me insight on how all this works. Right now I'm a full time student at troy university. Before starting, I worked at a Honda plant for 6 months making great money. I was able to get a car and save up. Also, I'm in the army reserves.
Right now I'm having problems though. Through the military I on get $368 a month through the G.I. Bill, and that's barely enough to pay my car note (which is exactly the same amount). I also get about $200 a month from going to drill one weekend a month. When I first started school, everything was fine since I had a decent amount of savings from work. But after a while of paying school expenses and bills, I need help. I
start work as a babysitter in February, but really needed some assistance until then. My bills total up to about $679 a month, including my car note, car insurance, health insurance, phone bill, and medical bill payment. I never thought I would need to do anything like this, because I thought my relatives would always have my back. But it turns out, the ones that want to help are financially incapable, and those who could help don't want to.

My name is Paige Mitchell and I'm currently in the Army Reserves and I am struggling. I just got done with a nasty divorce and I just got a new job with better pay. I have had a lot of life changes in the past few months. My ex-husband is an active duty service member and failed to pay the utilities with the BAH that we got. He owes me monthly spousal maintenance and per my divorce decree, he has to catch up on all the utilities. He failed to pay me my money on the 15th and I don't get paid from my new job until June 7th. My utilities are about to get turned off on the 25th. I tried for hours to get a personal loan, I've talked to friends and family, I'm literally stuck. I owe $195 to my electric and $235 to my gas company. I have nowhere else to turn or go to, even the Army Reserve will not help. I'm asking for help or whom I may contact for help. Thank you for your time,

There are a number of public assistance programs for members of the military. That is great that you have a new job and better pay, as that will help in your applications. Army Reserve will also qualify you, but look here for public assistance for the low-income.
