We have an incompetent DHS specialist

Post by S_Berner »

We are having financial hardship. DHS will not help and I've applied. I need help for property taxes as my home is currently under forfeiture and up for auction. DHS has taken away my family's benefits for no reason at all. We reapplied.
We are in progress for medical assistance as my wife has a severe bladder infection which may result in kidney failure. We both have no income at this time. With all the stress my wife miscarried twin babies. We have 10 year old and 18 month old.
Our home is in need of assistance, roof is falling off creating damage inside home. No siding or insulation on half of home, no working gutters. Also the basement leaks and we have creating mold. We have contacted many other government agencies but no one will help.
Our specialist at DHS is very bad. We applied for the SER program, she denied everything without good reason, and basement windows are all broken and old. Furnace is the original one from years ago. All of our Windows leak cold air into the house. So not only do we have all of this and possibly lose our home, but utilities are starting to get out of control. Water bill delinquent. We are almost 3 years behind on taxes and auction papers came months ago. Please help us. We don't know what else to do.

Well, of course DHS will not help with all that. Do you think the public aid in Idaho from DHS is unlimited and can take care of every bill and repair you have? Without any major financial contribution from you. That just does not happen. Regardless, LIHEAP is a public program that may help with a furnace or utilities in Idaho. Tax help is non-existent. No agency helps with that. Try talking to the assessor. As far as other needs, locate public aid in Idaho as well.

I spoke with someone today and all they did was tell me to contact the health department and a DHS specialist. So I did the problem is we were homeless about a three weeks ago until we came to Jacksonville. We did live in Keystone Heights. We have no mail yet coming to my sisters but she did make out a letter for me stating we live with her right now. I am a medical assistant looking for a job but I don't have any money to make it to interviews. I feel so stuck right now.
My sister is the only one working right now at McDonalds taking care of her three children and my family which is 5 more people. I need help with out light bill that is about to be shut off. I am going to attach a copy of the light bill. If I can get help with gas vouchers and utilities I can try to get a job. Food would be nice to. I have emailed and called a whole bunch of different organizations and still no help and DHS seems incompetent. Is there anything anyone can do? We live on Jacksonville Florida 32277. My sisters kids are 13, 9, and 7. Mine are 18, 15, and 13. Please can someone help us :(

Good afternoon,
To Whom This May Concern,
My name is Anniqua I am a single mom with a 6yr old daughter. We live in Jacksonville, FL. I have reached out for weeks to my DHS specialist who is incompetent. I’ve left voicemails, tried to contact many different offices and I am at a crossroads with no assistance. I lost my dad last year and it’s been really hard with no help with my daughter. I work 38 hours a week, I make $16 and hour but it doesn’t cover my expenses. My job does not have overtime and my daughter solely depends on me for care.
I am in the process of being evicted as I can't get hold of DHS specialist. We have no family here and I am in desperate need of financial support so we will have a roof over our heads as the cold is rolling in. Currently my lights are off because I have been trying to make weekly payments to my landlord on back rent and my current rent. I’m looking for another job but it has been tough with everything coming down all at once & I’m limited when my daughter is at school.
I am asking if there is anyway I can get assistance or point me in a direction? How can I get the specialist from DHS who seems to be incompetent to reply? I really cannot be homeless again with my daughter. Please leave a voicemail if I happen to not be near my phone.
Thank you so much in advance for all and any help.

Hi Anniqua
Sorry, not sure what to write. Customer service can be good or bad at DHS or anywhere. Call and speak to someone else there. In the meantime, look for other programs that may help you in Jacksonville. Or even free lawyers to help you with applications, and locate help for low-income families in Jacksonville FL.
