Support while recovering from surgery

Post by Mueller »

I am currently looking for resources that will be able to help me in a temporary disability.
Within the next month or so I will be having surgery, I have a torn rotor cuff. I am single and live alone with no help whatsoever. I receive Medicaid thru LSU for medical, but have no other type of insurance and will possibly be out of work for 4-6 months. I will need financial assistance paying utilities, rent and such. (phone, electric, gas, water) I do know of several food banks so am not too worried about food during this time.
Please any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for any help you can give,

I have moved in with my father (bringing my wife and son) since he broke his leg, has surgery and needed help with everything. He is a Vietnam veteran and now in his 60s. From the day we got here we have seen and tried to fix everything, the back wall of the home falling 3 inches in the middle from termites. I have jacked it up there and sintered each stud and new plywood. Now the roof is leaking into buckets in multiple areas, the floor is sagging inches along the middle of his home, and its old windows are letting out all his heat.
I am not able to do all these repairs safely and affordable. It’s all I can do to keep us food and oil. Any assistance in making this house safe and warmer would be very appreciative. My father has served his country proudly, raised 3 boys, and a great husband to his wife (my mamma) until she passed in 2009 at 64 years old to colon cancer. He says if I ever moved he wouldn't last a week alone, and I could never leave now. I just need help fixing the house before it falls in on my family. I'm trying so hard to do all I can but its getting away from us, were worried every day and need help somewhere please.

Hello.
We are financially struggling to pay all of our bills while I came home from a surgery. I had to drop my hours a lot at work over a year ago and we have just been using the credit card to pay for everything. My youngest son has a rare disease and has countless doctors appointments. He also has 1-4 major surgeries a year and a 2 week recovery period with each. It kept getting harder and harder to pay the minimums and now I don't know if we can even do that.
Thank you for any assistance you can give me for rent and utilities. Thank you.

If you are running up credit cards to pay rent and other bills, you may want to consider bankruptcy. Sadly most cases are the result of medical issues, which sounds like what you are dealing with. Bankruptcy can take care of those minimum payments you are struggling to make, and maybe even give advice on the future surgeries. Find more details on bankruptcy helping with debts.
