Get help with paying bills or free stuff.

Hi, My son was diagnosed with stage 3 Burkitts lymphoma in February of this year, he is 9 years old. He just finished his last chemo treatment 3 weeks ago and is now home waiting for his counts to go up. Our treatment hospital was UCLA hospital in Los Angeles and we live in South Central.

Due to the financial burden of needing to be 2 hours away from home for his treatments since February we have tapped out all of our savings, its gone and financially we are in trouble. We are unable to make our car payment on time and we are worried about paying our rent next month. Every month that nears we get so scared because everything is due the first week of the month. Rent, Car, Insurance, Utilities and we have 4 kids all together living at home and food is so hard to keep in the kitchen. Do you know of any programs that may be able to help us? Maybe a foundation that can help us with food?

Our social worker has no more resources we can ask. We have applied with Social Security but still no answer. And the few places the social worker applied us for cant help us again. We are so scared and don't know who to turn to. My husband's hours have been decreased at work due to his illness, He has been fighting Valley fever for a month now and has been hospitalized, today we received his 2 week paycheck and its only $400. There is no way we can cover the bills and food and my business that I started recently has gone down the drain since the diagnosis. If there is anyway you can help us please or know of somebody that can help us we are in a bad financial crisis and it seems to be getting worse.

Hello, I am writing to your organization because I am trying to help a friend of mine. She is a single mother with a son that’s going through difficult times. She lives in Brooklyn NY. She has 4 children ages 5, 10, 13 and 16. Her oldest child suffers from a mental disability so she cannot rely on her for help. I just need to find any kind of help for her before she just gives up. Please if you have any information at all or can connect her with any counselors, I will be so greatly appreciative. Thank you.

Anyone with a disability, and 4 kids, may be able to turn to Brooklyn Catholic Charities for help. They often run social services for the mentally as well as physically disabled in the community.

Hello, I have a very sick son. He has autism, an auto immune disease, juvenile arthritis and an eye disease called unites which leads to blindness. Saving him is all is all I think about. He has been through so much. He is so strong. With appointments every day most of the time out of town I have lost my grip on things financial. He needs so much its unreal. Mayo children's hospital in Minnesota would like to see him ....but how am I going to get him their? Please help me save him.....I love him so much.

Some disability grants may pay for travel to a hospital like the Mayon clinic. That is so sad about your sick son and sorry to hear that. Being that young and with medical conditions, that he had no part in, is sad. Also try raising money from the community too, as many generous people, charities, churches, etc. may contribute or donate.
