hello we are in massachusetts we just reapplied to ssdi in massachusetts its the second round for me we we disqualified for to much income in may 2010 now i am not employed at all due to surgery and pain and other problems i have been on mass health insurrance for a year and I AM ON A EVERY THREE MONTH TESTING FOR ANY RE OCURRING CANCER FRON A CARCINOID TUMOR I HAD REMOVED. i HAD GOT A LETTER FROM THE MASS DISABILTY REHABILITATION DEPT OF SSDI AND THEY INFORMED ME TO CONTACT MY DOCTORS AND TELL THEM I AM APPLYING FOR SSDI AND TO COMPLY WITH ANY QUATIONERS ABOUT ME IT SEEMS TO BE MOVING SLOW I WILL SEE MY PRIMARY DOCTOR SOON AND WILL ASK HIM ABOUT COMPLYING WITH THE SSDI CALIM SO I CAN GET SUM INCOME I AM GETTING SOME ASSITANCE THROUGH MASSACHUSETTS FOOD STAMP RPOGRAM CALLED SNAP AND I AND GEETING CASH HELP OF 300 A MONTH FRO EDAC THROUGHTHE SAME OFFICE AS THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS WERE I CAN GET MORE HELP TO PAY MY RENT ?

I live in Philadelphia, PA. I am disabled with 2 rods and a battery in my back. My wife is on short term disability from a blood clot. She doesn't make much to begin with. I am applying for SSDI but that will take awhile and I have no income in the mean time. My rent is do and my apartment manager is not the nicest person. If you could direct me in any way on how to get assistance til I get my disability payments it would be greatly appreciated. I need help with rent and electric. You will need to call around to agencies like Mayor's office of Community Services at 215-685-3600 to apply and ask for help with rent, bills, and debts. Just be persistent.

Hi,
I struggled all through my cancer/chemo treatments various hospital stays, my mastectomy all without asking for help from cancer agencies.
Now, I am behind on rent , bills etc and need HELP NOW, Yet I am turned down by every agency INCLUDING THE PINK FUND, apparently, since I had the mastectomy and am awaiting reconstruction now, they won't help me.
"You should have applied during active treatment".
I tried to NOT have to ask for help, apparently that was NOT the honorable thing to do as it's leaving me on the verge of eviction during a critical time, the last stretch before reconstruction.
I will be looking for and accepting full time work in April 2014 as SOON as I recover from the surgery
However as I stated above, I need help now.
Is there ANYONE that can help me pay rent for March and April and help me get some bills caught up?
If so, please let me know.

I'm a US Army veteran currently struggling with my rare condition of RSD (reflex synthetic dystrophy), plus causing other illnesses service connected. I'm being treated at the VA Denver hospital. When I’m not there my mom takes care of me the best she can.
We're struggling as much as my condition is every day, as disability is taking forever. We're trying every effort to find resources. Especially since we're in the Colorado springs area and all my specialist/doctors are in Denver so it doesn't make it any easier.
Please help us find some resources or what we can do to help us through this while we go through this hardship in stable house, income, and resources.

It can take months (if not years) for disability. Did you ask the VA for help or referrals. Since you are a veteran maybe the process is different. Another thin to try is an SSI advocate. They will help with applications and appeals, often only requesting a contingency payment. There are advocates in Colorado, so try them. But there are also other options listed on our site when filing for disability, and read more SSI advocate and lawyers.
