GA Living in Sandy Springs currently lost my job by discrimination, filing suit against the company. Cannot pay my rent or power bill. Lawyers are not cheap. How about pro-bono law firms for when I sue them? I was employed for 2yrs with my employer. Need legal help and help with power bill, don't know what to do, very depressed by everything that has happened. Please help me

If you are about to lose your power from lack of payment, you must be lower income. In that case, you may qualify for free legal advice. While attorneys are not cheap, so can get free aid in certain case. Here is info on free legal aid in Georgia, and they help with discrimination and other issues as well.

I've been trying to find an organization to help me and my wife. July of 2008 My wife was repeatedly raped drugged and tortured by her 1st cousin who had recently found out she was gay. She stands trial next month on the 3rd and has tried talking to everyone she could in order for me to attended her trial and be there to support her in every possible way I could think of at this time. In the process of this trial I have been through hell and back trying to take care of her as she fell apart and the economy fell apart. I recently lost my job in law enforcement and can no longer afford the plane ticket for her trial. I’m in desperate need of anything that could help me stand behind her 110% of the way like a real husband should, because she has stood by me through the years. If there's anything anyone could tell me I could do please respond. I've giving my plasma twice weekly and signed up for clinical trials but still won't have enough. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I have a dispute with a local builder in Huntsville AL who broke our contract and yet refuses to refund my $10,000 as called for in our contract. I have sent him a certified letter which he signed for, but ignored. I have talked with an attorney for legal advice who wants 1500 up front to file a suit against the builder. I have recently been laid off and forced to retire on SS and a small pension and do not have that kind of money. Can you help?

If the builder broke your contract sounds like you may be able to take some legal action to get that $10000 refund back. So that attorney does want an up front fee, but you can look into free legal aid. The federal government gives grants to law firms around the nation that can provide income eligible people with free legal aid. I think you can look into that. My son moved from his apartment Nov. 01, 2010. The house was undergoing foreclosure; the landlord told him to move out; the landlord said he was not returning the $1000 security deposit. We are a 14 to 15 hour drive from the Ft.Drum Watertown area. Are you able to provide any information about procedures to follow in getting the landlord to return the security deposit?

Doesn't sound right. If house was undergoing foreclosure LL needs to notify the tenant (your son of that) and return the cash. Can you afford an attorney? If not, I think look into free legal aid in New York. Law firms and pro-bono agencies exist, even in Northern NY and the Watertown area. More info is here.

there are agencies like Neighborhood Legal Services which can be called at (716) 847-0650. Most of these firms only deal with civil legal matters, but that can include evictions and issues with security deposits. Call one of the legal agencies in your area.

I have been recently unemployed due to a Hostile Work Environment and need assistance with rent and bills. I want to sue my former employer. I in search of employment and not receiving any benefits. I have applied for unemployment and it is still under review. I have also hurt my back at this job and attending therapy. Did you press legal action against them. Is is maybe trying to get the money to sue your employer. If so, look into getting legal aid for free. Many of the pro-bono legal firms across US also work closely with firms that offer rent assistance and other support. For example, they may be aware of homeless prevention programs in your area. So these law firms can help you deal with both issues at the same time.

We are not sure who Lighthouse is, but we provide information and advice. We can't represent someone who is in a lawsuit. For example, you may want to look into Massachusetts legal aid or programs. Some attorneys may be able to help you deal with the summons for free, provided your income is low enough. The phone numbers to call are on the site.

Hello, Our disabled daughter was born with a rare condition called Cloaca where she endured 35 operations in 7 massive surgeries to sustain life only to suffer a broken leg by the abuse of her care providers at a public school that OCR and DPI ruled against. Then she experienced being attacked as they filed illegal documents to block this evidence from us taking them to court.
I was then injured at work and my employer denied me access to my LTD POLICY and didn't report my injury to WC. The assigned attorney was fired by his boss for malpractice of mishandling my case. Those other lawyers did to avoid accountability repeated the same illegal filings secretly to block my evidence. They were lying and claiming they were not my attorneys. I am having a stranger mess with my legal case and they are filing false documents.
This left me without my benefits, I am unable to work struggling to keep our disabled daughter alive. Marriages face a 95% divorce rate--that a stranger decided she wanted my spouse of 27 years/32 union pursued him sexually via work as she had a legal contract/bid against 10 other WI Companies. They then used * to gain my spouse's approving her bid as he wanted her '*' she was exploiting to him---the only way was to have access to that he had to hide behind the legal contract to justify/explain her presence----and when she switched employers---he gave her new boss the winning contract---which is illegal.
The State of WI informed me it was in violation of business laws. Even after suing them, it was determined that he knew the positive results from our legal cases and told his attorney to use the same strategy----as they lied committed fraud/perjury and forgery of my signature on government tax refund checks including giving my attorney fake documents to obtain my signature on bankruptcy forms.
I then uncovered he was violating court orders. He stopped paying our creditor which was required to keep our truck. Then he illegally hid the purchase of a new truck using family members lying to hide it from the bankruptcy and creditors. They illegally made me pay all of his bills---from his auto insurance, rent, LTD policy, 4th life insurance and more. This was done as means to 'take away alimony money ordered to me' while they illegally forced me to pay for all costs for our daughter.
I had to pay all costs to sell our home and they illegally violated our rights to keep our home. I have proof I could have kept it---but they were filing fraudulent financial documents with the courts and refused to prove documents to the foreclosure Judge--not even attending when I got a buyer for our home that would have repaid our creditors.
He then stopped paying despite having money----he refused thus lost the sale---destroyed my perfect credit. This was done all to lie and steal all of our assets----their actions threw us out of our handicap home. We want out onto the streets (I owned a home with him since we were married in 1993----as I paid 50% of his student loans/worked).
I worked for 25 years supporting/building our life together. I paid 13 years on a whole life policy valued at $38,000---his lawyer reported he earned $60,000 when he was delaying the divorce to pocket the money they were hiding. He was in fact earning $85,000-----even created fake documents to steal assets---withdrew $80,000 of employer direct deposited money not reported and is hiding from the Judges, creditors and me. Besides stealing the other assets via fraud/perjury while refusing to sign documents----nor paying the court ordered alimony ---then ordered that I be on SSI to get a reduced alimony order while refusing to sign documents. This then stopped my benefits and alimony making me have NO INCOME.
Then the shelters had no means to meet the medical needs of our disabled daughter----we needed medical care plus he left us with a broken 14 year old vehicle. I had not had an apartment since attending MATC----in 1994 that apartments now require 30% rent to income---we didn't have the income to sign a lease while I proved they attacked my SSI Benefits. He was again lying and claiming I had assets when I didn't. He then attacked my SSI-D Benefits---back in 2005.
He was fearful I would have the ability to leave finding him on gay websites. SSI reviewed the evidence and reinstated the benefits but at a reduced level due to him not signing documents to put alimony funds into Wispact---who then reviewed my evidence granted. They then gave us assistance based on the abuse waived the costs----as did my attorney due to the severe abuse we are encountering.
With the destroyed credit, I had no option but to repair our old vehicle that required $18,000---not logical but couldn't lease nor get a loan nor had money monthly to make a payment--as I repaired as I had funds. While homeless we had to move everything into storage. We were having to move into the basement of a 'lady' who my daughter was best friends with since 2002---as she faced a divorce was upset her daughter left upset about their divorce. She then claimed she needed money/rent and we had no other options so we moved in.
She didn't have us sign a lease. I realized to keep us from having rights as she moved in a disabled family upstairs. She made the same promises as she changed once we were moved. It abused us as she didn't remove the snow nor sanded or salted her driveway on a bluff knowing we both wanted to move---she wanted to keep us there having us 'do all of her personal chores'. She in effect forced free labor---disabled caused us suffering---as she was conning 2 men to get money or valuables.
This resulted in one breaking in and striking the disabled man in the heart----the police were called and he got a restraining order that she began to attack, threaten, harass----they begged me to document to protect them that she, a USPS employee was searching our mail---even had the injured man's wife's. Then my deceased mom's mail put into her mail box by another USPS employee---all illegal.
She lied to the DA to keep the lover out of jail----and fearful the evidence I was documenting would be given to the police/DA---she had us held hostage---and stole our property. The Police arrived and were shocked by our evidence and said, "We have met many people in our line of work----and we can't believe what you have gone through let alone what this USPS employee was doing to you all." He escorted us to our apartment in a new city staying with us while the movers moved our items taking 8 hours.
My now ex husband filed a fake payroll check to get a low alimony order after stealing all assets or get assigned credits by their fraud/perjury---never provided any financial document that was real---the courts were careless. He didn't care---not their money......even said, "I don't believe you have that many herniated discs" as my attorney didn't provide our medical records claiming "this isn't an injury hearing."
He said we were not getting what the courts ordered.....we have been struggling-----now I got the evidence of the forgery after they ignored my attorney's 15 letters the STATE sent me the proof----they feared being arrested that they had to come up with a plot to stop seeing the Judge. They lied claiming and he was fired for downsizing---then I found his employer posted his job replacement with 10 others ASAP. Then they lied claimed "he doesn't meet the company's qualifications in their changes."
I downloaded their posted requirements of their new employee to replace him and it matched word for word what they gave him upon employment. MORE LIES--as they now filed a motion to end alimony. They have threatened me as I sent the evidence of fraud/perjury to his attorney's boss who removed them and he now is using the law firm of this woman who stole my life----which the STATE of WI said "is illegal" where her actions gained my assets via her job/* violates laws/my rights. I uncovered she did this same thing to obtain her second spouse---and met mine via her job divorce. Then the 2nd spouse as he was arrested---my spouse made more money and she was having him improve her property with our assets before the divorce was finalized. There were assets owed to our creditors as I uncovered he didn't even qualify for bankruptcy. During our marriage, he had me create his resume's/send them out---so I knew what he qualified for----and I have been documenting all of the openings he could apply---over 500 since April. I then uncovered he is lying to unemployment 'calling' for jobs at companies with no vacancies---and not applying to those with openings--living off the hidden money trying to end alimony.
He is lying saying he has no money ---lying covering he is living with this person who stole my life/assets. We need to sue him!
As a woman in WI, my rights have been violated as were our ADA legal rights. I am struggling financially on $720 a month. My daughter requires my help physically so she can't live alone--receives $820 a month. We have $130 in Food share and applied for heating aide--received a direct check to our electric company for $78 and a $150 check to pay our heat this winter. Our rent is $870 including heat.
We require the storage units as the apartment is small and couldn't get rid of anything until after the divorce when while living with that person. The person then got very ill for 10 months as the doctors didn't know what was wrong ----I was keeping her alive----she is now better as I figured out what the cause was ----the water at that lady's home caused a bad bacteria in her GI System.
She was in the ER 3 times. My auto insurance is $100, rent insurance $20, cell bill $60, TV $55, $35 internet, $100 medical ordered companion animal, $100 gas, food $130, storage $150, $50 electric, $20 heating water, plus as I paid $8000 in medical bills. I also have $18,000 in vehicle repairs as my vehicle just broke again -----laundry $40 month.......we go nowhere nor do anything not having money.
What can you suggest under these circumstances, in addition to suing? Do you know someone who can help our legal issues? I spoke with the FBI who said the Judge must be told. The Accounting firm was paid $700 by me reviewed evidence said "they will be jailed." as did the H & R Block rep.
The police saw the evidence-----I can't tell the authorities unless our benefits are protected from being attacked again by his family or him or his attorneys by fraud that stopped the benefits while they review----risks us being homeless again----or making my daughter sick again.
We truly need an advocate or someone of power to help and financial aid. I have written and called and stopped in to SSI but I get no security nor answers how to undo the harm and to protect our benefits.
I have no money for my daughter's birthday nor Christmas----
For the food pantry----are we supposed to go to the one in our area or can I go to one in Madison?

It seems like most of the legal issues you have resolve around disability. So try some of the programs for the disabled. Maybe they can help with the SSI, or provide legal aid too.

Do you know of any legal rights that protect cancer (melanoma) survivors from losing disability pay when working & exceeding the substantial gainful amount by pennies!!  I want to sue the SSI disability group. I've been able to work this whole year & also collect disability, but it is coming to end in February, so I must choose work or disability. It is the perfect job, part time, great pay & some bennies. It allows me the flexibility to have my appts & chemo & not miss work. I'm fortunate enough to have a good hourly wage but it puts me a bit over SS limit. I went to employer & because it's a gov't job, they don't think they can just reduce my pay, I'd have to reduce my hours which then hurts the position as I won't be able to do my job effectively. I cannot survive on just the one income & I could not get a 2nd job due to my ongoing treatments/appointments. This is why I need legal assistance.
I've been working with a SS specialist & she doesn’t think I can continue to do both, I don’t understand why SS can't prorate the disability pay. Can I get free legal counsel to help me appeal this or for suing them? I love my job & want to work. Just thought you might be able to direct me to a resource that could help. I live in WI.
