Post by Hackney »

I am seeking dental assistance since unfortunately I'm currently laid off I am getting Unemployment & I believe the reason why I don't have a job is due to the condition of my teeth. I've had teeth problems all of my life, such bleeding gums, I've had numerous of root canal, crowns etc & now I barely have any back teeth left & my front 2nd from the front cracked down the middle & now there's a gap from eating a piece of bacon. And I would like to either get aset of dentures or veneers whatever a dentist would recommend, I would just like to be able to smile once again, & I'm also in pain alot as well my gums are swollen alot. I don't know where to turn to get help or what I need &I'm hoping if you could shed some light on where I can get help. I live in Thornton/Denver area. Thank you for your time!

What I am trying to find out if there are companies that are willing to help
out with cost of payment for dentures for adults with cleft palates. Dentures were never an option as a young child but are now. I have a out of Detroit Michigan who can supply me with dentures in relation to my cleft palate but the cost is a little over 1800.00. I has a small dental policy but it will bascily only be enough to cover Part of the oral surgery part. Do you know any resource that would be willing and able to help?

We do not have an exact dentist in Detroit to call for dentures or that type of aid, but here is a comprehensive listing of Detroit Michigan dental clinics, and details on the services and free/low cost care they may provide. Call Community Health & Social Services Center at (313)849-3920 is just one example.

Since you did not provide your state, we can't direct you to any local dental centers. But try some of the national non-profit dental organizations for free care. Places like the Dental Lifeline Network works with about 15,000 dentists across the country, and hundreds of thousands of patients every year get free dental care. Dial the network at 303.534.5360.

Good Morning,
I am reaching out to you after reviewing your webpage and reading about the resources that may be available for those with dental needs. This unfortunately does not include dentist around my home and I do not have dental insurance.
My circumstances have lead me to contacting you because of the requirements I have to follow regarding my dental care per my Oral Surgeon.
I'm not sure how detailed I must be to begin so I hope you don't mind me giving as very specific (Best of my ability) summary as to the circumstances which lead to needing quite a bit of advanced dental service's
August: Went to my local dentist to have 3 teeth extracted. Challenges occurred during the procedure which lead to only one tooth being extracted in which that one tooth took an hour and 5 minutes upon completion, which for someone with no dental insurance makes it costly. I wasn't privy to exactly why but I would find out within the next week.
Day 3: Post extraction I started to notice the right side of my face was hot, began swelling and a red line started to travel down the middle of my throat, towards my heart.
Day 4: My jaw began to tighten making it difficult to open my mouth, face had swollen to twice the size and the red line was now dangerously close to my heart. At this time I felt it was eminent I take myself to the emergency room.
Day 4: ER, Upon seeing the ER doctor I was quickly referred then seen by the Trauma Oral Surgeon an staff at The hospital I was immediately brought in for emergency oral surgery and admitted into the hospital.
Day 5: Post surgery the morning after the Oral Surgeon entered my room and began to explain what had transpired to cause the oral surgery. Without the exact verbiage, I had developed Massatar Myofacitous, Cellulitis and several other serious complications that led to serious infections throughout my mouth abs down my throat, into the sinus cavity if I recall accurately causing me staying in the hospital for several days and then transferred to an in patient rehabilitation center where I would be receiving's strong antibiotic through a mid pic line. This would be for several more weeks.
My oral surgeon called the dentist and asked what has taken place and then informed him I had to have oral surgery and sent via ambulance to the rehab center for several weeks. Massatar Myofacitous is very rare in humans. It is mostly a canine disease.
Day 5 My dentist proceeded to explain to the oral surgeon what transpired during the extractions of my tooth several days earlier. Finding it Difficulr in extracting the tooth, this led to him using a drill to quarter the tooth and proceed to remove the tooth.
I do recall when the procedure first began telling the dentist I did not know dentists needed a physical fitness degree. I said this due to the level of pressure that I felt in and around my mouth, nose and jaw shortly after the procedure began and throughout the entire hour five minutes until it was over and gauze placed in the area in which the tooth was removed.
Day 5: An ENT entered my room which caught me by surprise even more shocking he told me I had a deviated septum. I was taken back due to the fact I hadn't one previous to the tooth extracted. Upset yet not surprised due to the level of pressure that was placed on my jaw, mouth, upper and lower teeth as well as areas surrounding my mouth, nose and neck as I had begun to feel tension all over including my neck that had led to some very bad headaches once I began to come out of being under anesthesia.
I had never experienced sinus issues or migraines in the past only when a head cold had developed which had been rarely something I had dealt with nor had a history of a deviated septum.
There was an internal medicine doctors an infectious disease physician as well as my GP who also visited and to introduce themselves and share the seriousness of the infection, cellulitis that had developed post the original extraction on Day 1.
he hospital report states all that had taken place once the symptoms began which soon lead to me going into emergency oral surgery. I am trying my best to accurately explain the timeframe in which this all took place.
The reason I've reached out to you is because I have no dental insurance and need other help too.
1. Upon being released from rehab center and my post op check up at the oral surgeon, he made it very clear that moving forward it was necessary I go to a University in Chicago This being they have the most up to date dental care, the equipment necessary to care for me and the remaining extractions as well as the additional complication that arose when the pressure put on me lead to the front tooth of a bridge snapping in half causing the entire bride to be taken out, that tooth extracted and the 2 other teeth drilled apart and extracted as well.
2. The emergency oral surgeon had submitted a letter of referral to UIC so I may be seen as soon as possible. Below you will read what ended up taking place after the referral had been sent.
3. The initial appointment I had at the University Dental Clinic lead to me behind referred to the UIC, Post Grad Prosthodontics Department, Endodontist Department , Orthodontia Department and Oral Surgery Department.
The University of Illinois, Chicago has the most up to date state of the art equipment, Dentists who've gone on to further their education specializing in the specific field of prosthodontics which requires an addition 3-4 years of post grad education. It became very clear I was going to need to be under the care of these specialist in order to realign my jaw, straighten the teeth that had begun to shift rapidly, my top teeth collapse and bottom teeth fall into my lower jaw area The many complications post the original extraction would be necessary to have the dentist who were also professors as well as the post grads to do their best to fix the damage caused by a simple extraction of one tooth.
There WERE several other teeth that needed general work done but having a broken bridge and the positioning of my teeth it became evident braces need to be put on to realign my teeth.
This will be an (Estimated) 2.5 years per the Orthodontist. My jaw also began to cause reoccurring "Popping" pressure and pain from TMJ, ongoing care for migraines and pain medicine for the increasing pain in the back of my neck, Cervical area of my spine and jaw.
The point being I have no dental insurance, nor is any of this covered under the major medical health plan I had/have.
As of December of 2020 I was placed on Medicare with an additional supplemental health insurance policy. All out of pocket which did not allow me to add on a dental policy due to the fact I have been on SSDI close to two years and no other income. Hence, unable to financially afford all this care.
The costs incurred from Medicare, A prescription policy and a supplemental policy I simply can't afford another insurance policy monthly cost.
Therefore I am put in the position of paying out of pocket for all of the services I am currently under the care of and have received at UIC. The service fee's for the prosthodontics must be paid in full PRIOR to the services performed as well as the remaining service's paid as well upon completion. There are no programs with the Post Grad Program at UIC which allow being set up on any sort of payment plan
Due to my current SSDI income and despite applying for a dental credit card or loan for the total cost ($43,000+), I have failed at being authorized for both resources. This includes partials as well due to the teeth having to be extracted.
This is certainly NOT for esthetics reasons but my general health began to be effected and feeling unwell as the years progressed as the incident took place at the end of August of through mid/September.
Despite the numerous attempts to schedule a consult at UIC starting in October of to no avail I was finally able to receive a return call from the Dental School. October of 2020. Mostly due to Covid requirements in the University closing and no appointment made and those previously booked all cancelled I. Which one was mine until I was finally able to be seen in December of '20 despite several requests sent in through the oral surgeon who did my surgery. Covid caused great delays.
It is of the utmost importance I find a way to pay for all the dental work I must have done. There is, by the way, some of the dental work that was needed in addition to the issues that developed post Massatar Myofacitous. This includes several cavities filled and a few extraction as well as choosing whether I wanted to get implants or have partials made for my bottom and top teeth.
I apologize for the length of this email however my circumstances are very complex and certainly in need of being addressed and dental work to repair started sooner than later. Being in pain had to be alleviated as soon as possible.
I would be very grateful for any assistance/suggestions you may offer me on dental needs and insurance. It's a very difficult position to be in without having dental insurance. I hope the above information was clarified well enough to understand why I have reached out to you.
In the event any questions/concerns arise, by all means feel free to contact me either by my cell phone below or by responding to this email. You can also reply by text as well. I look forward to hearing for you at your earliest convenience.
