No health insurance for cancer

Post by Deawe »

My husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer Feb.2,2011.He is seeing a holistic doctor and my insurance will not pay for that kind of care. We need any help that you can give us so that he can continue his treatments. He needs medications, counseling, and to be able to see a specialist for his cancer, and medical bills are expensive. He has been seeing this doctor for 2 months and his cea blood test has went from 2.9 to 2.7. This doctor is really helping him. Can you please help us. Do you give out grants or do financial assitance? Thank you

There are different non-profits and nation organizations that can provide support for cancer patients, including the medications and specialists that sounds like you need to see. They can also help you keep up with other bills and debts during the period. A couple options and places to call include Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief Program as well as HealthWell Foundation. Extensive information and phone numbers are here.

I have been battling Cancer for the past two years and have had only minimal help. I am getting ready to have surgery on the 17th of October and will not be able to work until the beginning of the year. Until then I have zero income, and I do not have health insurance for the cancer treatment. I was denied disability and do not qualify for a lot of programs because I don't have children. There are so many programs that the funds are already gone, I don't know where to look. Definitely in need of help.

My mother who is 85 years old was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November 2011. She had surgery and thought all went well...of course she is still paying for her surgery and physician bills. Last week she was diagnosed with another type of breast cancer which is aggressive inflammatory and is now facing Chemotherapy Radiation and another surgery. She lives alone and only on her social security which is not very much. Is there organizations we can contact to see if they will help with her medical expenses? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just a heads up if you call sometimes she does get confused and is very leery of giving out her personal information on the phone.

I was recently diagnosed with CML cancer, the kick is I also have tumor which are unheard of with blood cancer. I will be getting a stem cell transplant within two months but until then I cant work at the moment and neither can my wife because she is my care giver. We also have 4 kids with no income, no insurance and a loss for where to go for help. If you could please get back with me I would greatly appreciate it.

My husband became unexpectedly disabled from a visit to the emergency room only to find out he had the beginnings of pancreatic cancer. While he has been one of the few to remain lucky to be alive, we are now struggling with this life adjustment. He was previously a Marine for 9 years (with an honorable discharge), and many hours on the phone with the VA has proved they will not help him, as apparently he is unreliable for any military assistance.
Financially we would be walking away from this fine, except for the changes in health laws this year have landed us $8000 in medical bills, $2000 which are nearing collections. While our insurance company (Aetna) should have let these cap out at $3500, they keep presenting us with grey areas which allow them to overcharge, and many phone calls in that direction have left us with a dead end and wasted time.
I have a good job now which demands 50 hours from me a week, and a work from home data entry job would be a reasonable option for me, however I am having a tough time locating the ones which can be done on my own time. We are working on rehabilitant my husband back into the work force, and my fear is that this $2000 going into collections will ruin his credit (which isn't the best now but good enough to pass for a job), making all of his efforts to pull through this and lead a normal life a waste. This seems like a horrible way to loose, especially when we have already depleted our savings making the first group of payments and using the rest of our savings as band aids over the months we were waiting for his disability policies to begin paying out. I felt the work from option was our way out, do you have any leads for us at this point?
