Bankruptcy filed and power bill

Post by List10 »

In the state of Delaware, if you filed bankruptcy,Delmarva Power the will not put you on a payment plan for the utility bills due. I'm running out of alternatives. I'm subject to shutoff. How they they tun off my power if I filed bankruptcy? Delmarva was one of my creditors that I filed. Can you give me some solutions.

Bankruptcy is very technical, with lots of dos and don'ts. As far as how it relates to energy bills and creditors, honestly not sure. I do suggest speaking to a bankruptcy specialist/attorney. This is a good resource to learn more, and you can find info on pro bono bankruptcy legal advice and plans here on the site as well.

Sounds kind of sketchy with husband leaving, utility bills, disconnections, etc. What state do you live in? You may be able to qualify for free legal aid and/or support. Try this resource for much more info. Federal government funds go to support programs throughout the country.

I have been unemployed for 2 years today. I have my power bill due tomorrow. Can someone please help. My power bill is $650. I think I only have 3 weeks left on my UC & I have put out 80 resumes & job apps in the last 2 months. I am a educated accountant but if my UC is deleted I will take any job to be able to cope. I appreciate any help..

We can't directly help, but here are programs in Mississippi that may be able to assist. Call around. Ask your local church or Salvation Army too. Here are Mississippi utility programs and agencies to call around too for help. For example, Entergy Mississippi offers customers the Helping Hands assistance program which can be called at 1-800-368-3749 to apply and get more details.

I have been trying to get help with my electric bill. I lost my job on the 10th of July and have been struggling with rent and bills since. I have gotten a job, but I do not start until the 18th. I have been calling everywhere to get assistance but everyone is out of funds and since I have a bankruptcy on my record and disconnection notice schedule for cut off on the 13th. Can you please help this one time? It makes me cry because I have an 11 year old who had asthma so the humidity and get will make it worse.

HI!
I am a single MOM, getting ready to file Bankruptcy on debt that was occurred from my marriage, and some recent. My lawyer will be filling hopefully Friday or Monday. But, I am late this month on my utility bills and rent, which is due on the 1st. The rent is $1075.00 a month, he charges $10.00 per day if it past the first. The light bill is $278.
I thought it was the 10th of the month, but he has advise, me no. I am in a real jam this month with the power bill. Between all the money I put in my car, and I just cannot do it this month and he is not been very nice, the total for this month is $1375.00 and next month is due on the 1st$ for 1075.00. My lease is up in September. I am looking for a place closer to work, and affordable power bills for me. but I in process of bankruptcy. Please get back to me ASAP!! This is urgent!!

Filing bankruptcy will not take care of the $1075 in rent or the $278 light bill you have. In fact it may just make it harder for you to get a lease for a new apartment. But ask all these questions of your lawyer and more. As there are several things to consider, and the list of items is here for when filing bankruptcy. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... uptcy.html
