I need help with getting my electric bill paid in Georgia. I was just approved for unemployment but it could be a month before I get my first check and my power could be turned off before then. I only need help with this one electric bill and after that I will have my unemployment first check. I've never received assistance for anything like this and I'm hoping I can get help just this once. I hate asking for help but I really need it at this point. Nobody in my family is financially stable enough to help me and without power, I have no internet to look for steady, full time employment. I'm only asking for help this one time. I am desperate now and beyond stressed out. I've never asked for a handout before and am truly embarrassed to be asking now. I pray that you can assist me. Even if it's only for a portion. It sounds like the best option for you may be the LIHEAP crisis program. Priority is given to people with children as well, which sounds like you fall into that category. Find information on a number of Virginia utility assistance programs and services too. Call your utility company first and foremost too. Roanoke is covered by these programs.

MY LIGHTS ARE GOING TO BE CUT OFF TOMORROW. I am 58 years old and recently lost my job of 16 years. It is 100 degrees and I cannot live in this heat. I have never received assistance. My lights were off last month for 3 days but it wasn't as hot then. PLEASE help me. It is a prepaid phone and will be off on 6/2/12 unless a friend pays it. I need assistance paying my utilities. I am disabled and only my husband works. I have been without gas for 3 months. I was denied twice by LIHEAP because my son worked one month and lost his job. I made a deal to pay 1/3 of the Nicor bill to get reconnected. I had to borrow the money. My electric is due to be shut off any day. I put 60 dollars down, all I had hoping I could make payment arrangements but they denied that request. I don’t know where else to look. Thank you.

I'm looking for possible help to pay my electric bill. The company I was working for shut down and I have been trying to find work. Things have been going from bad to worse lately and as hard as I'm trying I can't seem to get it straightened out. I have to do something but every time I try the internet I get re routed or can't find an application. I'm not very good with the internet and this is the first place I found where I can actually request help. I hate having to ask. I always tell my daughter that we are strong independent girls who can make it on our own. The only reason I'm asking now is because I'm desperate and scared. Have you tried calling Nicor for any other payment plans? Or did they say no since they already gave you one deal. There are other solutions in Illinois from Nicor, state options like LIHEAP and more. I have been permanently disabled since 7/1/1997 and currently live in the country and need some help paying my electric bill. My wife has been I'll for the last two years and hasn't been able to work. My SSI is less than 2000 dollars per month. We need any help possible. We live in a one room barn and can hardly make It.
