My electricity is scheduled to be shut off on or after the 26th of this month. I am not eligible for help through Michigan DHS or others due to being in income based housing. I live in Kent county 49505 is my zip. I do have 5 small children and can pay a small portion and had a balance of $6600 that I paid down to $2400 but I can't come up with more in 2 days. Please let me know what I can do? My provider is Consumers energy. Thank you!!

I am unemployed, live in Michigan and I have numerous bills that needs to be paid now. My house payment, my light bill, and water bill. My husband's disability check is gone before he ever gets it, I'm without a job, need to get to a doctor, and my children need to go to a doctor and dentist.
My husband can not even get to a doctor, he does not have money to the doctor for visits and hospital visits. He’s very sick and can not get around. He was hurt at work by a two ton duly truck in 2010 and hasn’t been able to do at all. He’s all stressed out and so am I and the children. He's lost his manly part life. I'm in the need of help with assistance now with electric bills. Will, can you help me at all? I need you to notify me right away, and send me a application and help.

I live in Grand rapids, Michigan and I'm in need of assistance with my Consumers energy bill. I have been approved through DHS for assistance in the amount of $455.00 leaving a balance of $786. I am not able to pay all of this in the time allotted. Is there any other resources here in Michigan that will help me?

There are many utility bill assistance programs in Michigan that can help the unemployed and others. One is the home heating credit. While you may think by the name it only operates in the winter, that is not the case. It can provide a grant year round. Also try disability programs in Michigan for electric bill help, company programs, and more. Find details on the credit service though. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... dit_a.html

Call Consumer Energy and ask them. As there is no way some charity or non-profit will provide you $2400. We are frankly shocked that Consumer Energy in MI did not shut off your electricity way earlier. As how can anyone possibly run up a utility bill of $2400 to $6600? That is outrageous. But here are some other Kent County programs to try.

I was informed to contact your organization regarding assistance for our utilities and electric. We are struggling at this point. Our electricity just got shut off and our water is due to be shut off as of tomorrow morning. We have children in our home. One child has ADHD & another child has a rare disability that has been denied SSI. Please contact me, I live in Holly, MI (Oakland County). Thank you!

Try the THAW program in Michigan. It is available statewide. It combines both donated money as well as Salvation Army resources, and both are effective at paying utility bills as well as electric costs.
