We received a shut off notice from Equitable Gas on July 11, 2013 to be shut off August 18, 2013 for the past due amount of 414.11. We live in Harrison County WV I applied to the LIEAP information sent at the end of December 2012, I forgot my husbands pay stub in which I received a letter to send it in. I did the next day. I had it out to put with the filled out information but forgot to put it in the envelope JAN 31, 2013. I was still denied even thou we had help paying our gas bill several times in the past. With only 1 income and I have tried to make payments in which it is not easy every year - I need help paying this. Send me what I need to send in for assistant. Thank You.

It sounds like you made a lot of mistakes in applying for the West Virginia LIHEAP program. You are responsible for that...no one else. As far as what you can do now, there is assistance for Equitable as well as other providers. But if you have only one income, you need to either cut way back on expenses or increase your take home in some way. Such as you or your husband getting a job. In the meantime, find more utility bill help in West Virginia.

I am a single disabled mother of 3. I receive SSI and am on the verge of becoming homeless because I cannot afford my rent, bills, and provide for mine and my children's needs with my limited income.
I need help immediately and no one will help me my gas is going to be shut off on Monday. I got a notice the other day. If so I will not be able to stay in my home with my children without hot water, cooking and it's my main heating source.
