To Need Help:
I care for my mother who's 80 years old and her only income is social security and it's very difficult for her to pay for the incontinence pads and bed covers that she needs. She has a huge bill every couple weeks because she needs incontinence pads and the disposable bed covers. I live with her, but my only income is a retirement check and I can only help to pay for a few items. My mother has arthritis in the knees, ankle and back, plus high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Once she goes to bed it's too difficult for to get up and go to the bathroom during the night. She also takes a fluid pill which makes the problem of incontinence worst. She has a few senior friends that receive incontinence pads from VA Medicaid, but she doesn't qualify for that program. My mother has Kaiser Insurance and Medicare, but I've been told they don't offer any pads or bed covers. Any information you can provide is appreciated.

Re: Bed items for my senior mom
We are not sure if Medicare covers those bed covers, but if they don't and you are sure of that, maybe your mother can turn to a clothing closet or thrift store. Those may give them out for free if her income is low enough. Or they will sell them to you at a greatly reduced priced. Some centers are run by the Salvation Army or other charity groups too. Or look into a disability program. Find a listing of low cost clothing closets. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... osets.html
