Get help with paying bills or free stuff.

I am gathering info on help that is available to assist with my mother and step father’s mortgage. While they are not typical low income, my step father’s sudden health condition will soon render them without income due to the time he will need off to fully recovery. Are there any options for their situation, as these programs are typically income based?

I am currently out of work on short term disability, my husband is also disabled on social security. Need financial help. Currently in lawsuit with Workman's Comp as I got injured at work. Currently my employer will not let me return to work due to restrictions.. I don't make enough to pay mortgage (which is based on my income) or to pay utilities.
