About to lose house and help with bills

I have been out of work for around 2 years now and I am about to lose my house. I have already lost my insurance and my wife and I have very high monthly medical expenses. I am really in need of some help in paying my power bill and gas bill. I am trying to start my own business but the prospects of being in the black soon enough to keep my power from being turned off are not very likely. If there is any way to get some temporary assistance, I would be grateful. I only require a temporary loan and would insist upon paying back the assistance as soon as my financial situation returns to normal. If I cannot pay you back, I will help another family that is in trouble and requires assistance. I know that I will soon be back in better fiscal circumstances and I am only turning to you as last resort, so that I can keep my business prospects open by not having my power shut off.

Thank you for any consideration,

Jeffrey

Hi, There are many resources and programs that can provide you with mortgage help. There are also many ways to get assistance for other bills. Just go to the main site, research for programs on there, community action agencies, and other options that you may have for aid.

If you are needing help with debts and mortgage, then you may want to try a credit counselor or a housing counselor in South Carolina. They may be able to direct you to either federal, South Carolina state, or other local options. Also take a look into various debt consolidation and settlement programs. Here is more info on just a couple options.

We need help desperately. My husband and I have had unforeseen and severe circumstances that prevented us from keeping up with our mortgage. In 2012 he had a massive heart attack and had to have a triple bypass. He is self-employed so he did not qualify for unemployment or disability. When he was incubated in the hospital, I walked into Bank of America our home loan mortgage company, to inform them of the situation and if there is anything they could do to help us because we knew we would not be able to make the payments considering the current circumstances.
First they would not speak to me because the home loan is in his name only. When we did finally speak with them, they said they could not do anything until we were behind on our payments by at least 3 to 4 months. So after the 3 to 4 months timeframe, B of A began talking about modification. However, the 1st time around the bank made a big error by not including my income so they flagged the account meaning we could not do anything further with them. It took about 4 to 5 months just for them to remove the flag so that we could continue with a possible modification. After much frustration, we got in touch with someone working in the President's Department of Bank of America. We have been trying to work with her ever since. However, we are now approaching the 3 year mark and Bank of America no longer wants to give any options of assistance. So they would not work with us in the beginning, and they would not take any payments either. Additionally with the economy failing, it was a detriment to his business, which is painting, tiling, wallpapering, etc.
In 2014 I ended up in the hospital with DVT and 2 PEs. In other words, I had blood clots in my legs. It is a miracle and a blessing that I even survived something like this. As a result, I was not able to work for a couple months while trying to survive the blood clots, and regularizing my blood with Coumadin (blood thinner).
Yet again, we took a hit on our finances for me not to work and only receive a small portion of disability. At the end of 2012 in the month of December, I had to have a procedure done, only to discover that my colon is damaged. I was unable to return to work until a few months after 2013 began. Again, another hit to an already complicated circumstance. I have now stabilized with my health and continue to work full-time trying to support the family.
Fortunately, throughout 2014 my husband began getting more work and I am still at my present job that I've been with for 8 years. We are finally getting on our feet, however, the bank is refusing to work with us and wants to foreclose. The arrearages are now up to $66,000 and climbing because of all of the fees they are tacking on. We have asked the bank on numerous occasions to put our balance at the end of the loan and let us continue our monthly payment. Unfortunately Bank of America refused to work with us on that.
We now are planning on filing bankruptcy and not sure where we’re going to end up living if we cannot get some help keeping our home. My husband has been offered a job as Project Manager with a stable company. This new direction for him should begin at the end of November and would have an increased impact on our income. We have a son who is a senior this year, and it is very hard and difficult to imagine having to move in the middle of her senior year because nobody wants to help us.
Please, can you help us? Your consideration is greatly appreciated and we look forward to speaking with you,

My sister and I own a home which we have to help our sick father. While we both have full time jobs we are also going to school and the electric and water bills are becoming too much to handle when adding the mortgage that we pay. I'm looking for something that might give us a discount. Not a way to not pay it all. If we could get it lower just a little bit it would be such a big help. Thanks for any for info you can give me.

Bank of America does offer some assistance to their customers. But they need to be servicing the mortgage (or it can be Countrywide). They may modify the mortgage, offer payment plans, and other support. But you are saying you are 66K behind. You must not be telling the entire story, as that is a ridiculous amount. The fact they allowed you to even get to that point is very generous of BOA. They are under zero obligation to offer you help, and let you fall 66,000 behind. They are a business to make a profit.
Think about it this way. What if you had a job and your employer stopped paying you. Would you continue to work for them, for free, until you were owed 66K in wages? That is the exact same thing. So Bank of America has been very accomodative to you. But here are some of the other Bank of America foreclosure prevention programs you can try.
