Seniors facing foreclosure

Post by Moochie »

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a senior citizen collecting social security. My wife has been the main source of our income since my disability in 1991. She was laid off from her manager position with a local computer company (due to reduction in forces) in Albuquerque, in May of this year. We own our home however it has been referred to foreclosure attorney. She recently started a new position with another company in Albuquerque, however we are so far behind in our utility, phone and basic monthly expenses, and doing our best to play catch up. We are cash strapped, and in great need of assistance with our utility bills (PNM is helping with a payment plan although this only helps with reduced payments for the month) food, gas and cat food! We are working with our mortgage company to avoid foreclosure. I have been searching for any type of temporary assistance until she gets on her regular paycheck cycle, to avoid getting farther and farther behind in the basics. We have not set up our swamp cooler as at the moment, there aren’t even funds for cooler pads. This has been a very difficult situation for us, and new as this has not happened to us; it is very difficult and out of our nature to seek such assistance.
If you could provide us any assistance, or refer us to resources that may be able to help with these items, we would be most grateful. I am 65 and my wife is 59.
Sincerely and respectfully submitted,

I'm worried about the possibility that my 82 and 83 year old parents won't be able to afford to live in their home much longer due to the high bills, behind on their mortgage and limited income. While they are in foreclosure, my dad has continued taking jobs to add to their income until just recently. He isn't able to do it anymore.
They live in a nice older home, but it is large and not energy efficient. They are proud people and aren't feeling good about asking for foreclosure assistance and they haven't before. I am checking out options they have being senior citizens to help them be able to live in their home longer. Any help would be appreciated and I'm willing to help them with any paperwork.
Thank you in advance.

Our home is in foreclosure and will be sold next week 10/22/2016 and we will be homeless. I am a disabled senior (61) with very limited mobility. My husband is actively looking for work. Our only income of $6oo a month comes from workman's comp. We have no place to go.
My husband and I are both insulin dependent diabetics, I save severe asthma and have to use a nebulizer many times a day. I cannot go upstairs at all and have not been able to see me doctor go for physical rehab. Or other specialists because I can't use the buses. I cannot get back into the house if stairs are involved. I am in a panic. We need a storage space as well. I am completely overwhelmed. Please call me. Thank-you.

Try some of the Connecticut mortgage programs. There are several out there for you. We have them listed here.

Maybe they can stop your foreclosure. Or mediate a solution with your lender. Good luck.

I am writing to find help ASAP in ANY way to keep my parents, who are seniors from the threat facing them of imminent foreclosure & loss of their home & property. My father just stopped working full time at the age of 78,(he will be 79 in January). I am terrified for them. I must find help for them! I am 56 and have been disabled since 1999, I was on 37, and if I sold everything that I own, I wouldn’t be able to make even one mortgage payment. They also provide the home where I live. I’d live in a room anywhere, a cardboard box if need be, just to help them!? Please help. Terrified & prayerful, Warren County KY42122

Re: Seniors facing foreclosure can use any program here

There are mortgage assistance programs if you are close to a foreclosure. They help seniors and people of any age - if other criteria are met. The point being foreclosure help is not age specific. But anyhow, look here for mortgage relief for seniors on social security.
