Western Central Texas transitional housing and shelters.

Families facing eviction, the homeless, and very low income in Abilene and all of West Central Texas can get help from several different agencies and non-profits. Programs offered include transitional housing, emergency shelter, and help in finding and also paying the rent or security deposits on a new home.

Throughout this entire process, those who are enrolled into a transitional housing program will be able to benefit from case management services. Examples may include credit counseling/repair, job training, and more. Basic needs can also be met at a shelter or transitional housing program. This can include free food, meals, clothing, and similar needs.

Non-profits operate and support the needy across the entire region. Some of the counties in which people can get assistance include Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton Texas.

A number of services are offered, including transitional housing for people age 18-21. Other assistance includes education, employment, and job training. Case managers can also help individuals, including immigrants, obtain any needed documentation or ID. The center also offers life skill classes in interpersonal relationships, housing, health and safety, transportation, job readiness, money management, and much more.

Also, the Transitional Shelter - Family Program facilitates shelter, food, clothing, and even transportation for west central Texas residents. Clients of the housing resources need to maintain a full-time 40-hour-a-week job and/or be returning to school for their GED or education. Another similar service is known as the Single Adult Program.
