Jasper Area Family Service Center is a leading non-profit organization for families and individuals in the greater Walker County Alabama area.

New parents can get counseling and information from a program known as Baby Talk. It is an advocacy program for new parents or those of small children. Another similar offering is Parent Project, which also provides advice, support, and intervention techniques. A solution known as Fatherhood Initiatives is available too. It will assist non-custodial parents by teaching them and practicing with them skills to improve their ability to meet financial obligations.

The Family Service Center Second Opportunity System is offered for out-of-school youth who are under the age of 21. It can provide them with job training, education, GED instruction, counseling, mentoring, and job placement/career assessment for the Walker County region.

Salvation Army of Walker County runs numerous social services for the community. This includes, but it not limited to the following. A food pantry, thrift store, and canteen provide groceries and more. Apply for assistance with prescription medicines and also get vouchers in times of need. Seasonal aid is offered from Christmas and Back to School programs for children. A shelter is offered as well as transportation assistance to the housing units, as needed. Capstone Rural Health Center is a community clinic for the Walker County Alabama area. It provides variable rate and maybe even free primary health care. The LIHEAP utility program can provide Energy Assistance, including help in a crisis. Cash grants and funds can assist low-income and working poor families with paying for their heating/cooling needs.

Basic needs are offered from a clothing closet. This offers free items, clothes, and personal goods for families and individuals in the community. An Emergency Food Program can offer vouchers that can be used to pay for groceries.

 

 

 

Senior assistance programs can include, but are not limited to, food stamps, basic computer training classes, outreach assistance programs, and even telephone assistance.
