Hardship grant money to pay bills from community action

Community Services Program Van Zandt County, which is located on 670 W Dallas St, Canton, TX 75103 and can be reached at (800)831-9929 or (903) 567-3150, offers a multitude of assistance programs, including utility and energy bill help. There is also emergency rent help, funds for various transportation bills and also access for free weatherization programs. You need to apply for help, and all aid is focused on low-income families or people that are on the path to self-sufficiency.

  • The Direct Client Services that are offered by the community action agency provide both financial assistance with limited shelter, tuition, fees and books for individuals seeking degrees/training certificates. The community action on site specialists can provide counseling, advice, and referrals to online opportunities for making money. Even find how to make money with surveys.
     
  • Transportation help is offered. Also access limited gasoline assistance that may be available for traveling 25 miles or greater one way for college/training. Or get get fee one time emergency medical transportation with documentation to appointments 50 miles or greater one way.
     
  • Grant money and help from utility companies can be offered. Community Services counselors refer people to programs, including those from TXU, Reliant, SWEPCO (American Electric Power Co.), Cirro,  Gexa Energy, Direct Energy, Entergy, FEC Electric, Freedom Power, Wood County Co-op, Texas Power, and Trinity Valley Electric Co-op.   • The non-profit can provide applications to government programs such as SSI disability or food stamps, Medicaid, denture programs for adults and much more. There is also help for homeless people or the unemployed in Van Zandt County.

Van Community Ministries - While they mostly provide free groceries or personal toiletries from a food pantry, the center also offers EFSP funds for helping to pay rent and utilities when available. The charity is at 205 S Maple St, Van, TX 75790. There is also money to help with light or power bills, in particular for veterans, single mothers or seniors. Call (903) 963-1616.

Emergency Aid- Kaufman County and Terrell Texas is offered at the Senior Citizens Center. The program can offer emergency assistance for Kaufman County residents only in the region. Limited funding. First Baptist Church Forney - Only helps Forney TX area residents. The church provides family and individual counseling as well as grants and financial assistance for citizens in a crisis. Some of the support includes money for rent/ mortgage as well as energy and utility bill assistance on a case by case basis to the low income. Call (972)552-3357 or (972) 564-3357. Housing and rent assistance - This is a service in Kaufman County. Tenants facing eviction, as well as other low income families, may be provided assistance. Free or low cost health care in Kaufman and Van Zandt County is available. Terrell Health Services offers medical care to anyone, regardless of income or insurance status. Some of the programs include general check ups, breast exams, Pap smears, birth control, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, male and female infections. There is free womens health care and basic dental. Russell Memorial Methodist Church helps people get benefits, such as TANF cash assistance, EBT cards, and other benefits. There is also emergency financial help, a homeless shelter and other aid, including church loans, from 201 S 4th St, Wills Point, TX 75169. Phone: (903) 873-2569

St Ann Catholic Church has a weekly free medical clinic. The help people with no insurance or that are on Medicaid. Eye exams, physicals, RX meds and cancer screening is from 806 N Washington St, Kaufman, TX 75142. Dial (972) 962-3247

Salvation Army Services Center provides support. There is a thrift store, free motel vouchers for a room, a homeless shelter, and food pantry at 5 Oak Creek Dr, Kaufman, TX 75142. Or apply for back to school supply giveaways for kids or free Christmas toys. Other programs include adult rehab, free clothes for kids and adults and bargain items from the Family Store. The Share Center of Terrell TX (phone (972)551-1729) is a not for profit agency that will provide education and services to the low income through computer classes as well as job referrals. There is also free counseling, career counseling and advice, and continuing education referrals. Will also offer parenting education, debt reduction, advice for debt collectors, and budgeting advice. Food pantries and distribution centers are in the region. There are free holiday meals, bag lunches, groceries for low-income families or people with no money and more. Some pantries are as follows, including for pet food.
