Catholic Charities Tulsa County emergency assistance programs.

Whether you need emergency assistance or support to deal with long term challenges, the Tulsa Catholic Charity organization may be able to help you. They provide services to the low income, seniors, and others who are struggling. Advice is confidential, and people are handled with compassion and respect. Learn how the non-profit Catholic Charity organization can help families in the Tulsa Oklahoma region. The main programs, and their associated names, are listed below.

Padre Pio Emergency Assistance Program supports tens of thousands of families. Resources offered include clothing, food, groceries, and more general social service assistance. All aid is limited, and is offered during certain hours on a first come-served basis. For example, prescription medications, food, and clothing is usually offered in Tulsa on Tuesday-Friday from 9:00 am until they run out of supplies. Financial assistance is very limited, and funds and grants are available on Fridays only.

With any aid offered, conditions need to be met. All applications and requests for forms of assistance require identification for each person in the household. Dial 918.508.7160 to apply for help or for more information.

Catholic Charity Immigration Services helps people who are new to this country and Oklahoma obtain legal advice. Get help with obtaining documentation and citizenship in cooperation with the US Department of Homeland Security. They partner with professionals and volunteers to provide free or low cost legal assistance regarding immigration issues. Call 918.508.7180 in order to set up an interview and consultation.

St. Elizabeth Lodge is shelter and short term transitional housing program for working but homeless families in Tulsa. Receive access to social services and aid, and get support with obtaining independence and fulfilling family relationships. Dial 918.508.7146.

Receive education and job training from the Catholic Charity St. Katharine Drexel Education Services. Clients and the needy can sign up for classes that are offered around the community. Programs, classes and workshops focus on helping people improve their intellectual, emotional and physical well being. Families in the outlying areas of eastern Oklahoma and Tulsa can look into rural services. Some of the rural outreach centers include Catholic Charities-Muskogee, Sallisaw (which is run in cooperation with other churches), St. Jude Helping Center-McAlester, and Poteau Oklahoma. Additional emergency assistance and social services are provided through the parishes in Pawnee, Atoka, Bristow, Drumright, Claremore, Cushing, Durant, Hugo, Langley, Miami, Skiatook, Okmulgee, and Pryor.

Receive dental assistance from the Blessed Mother Teresa Dental Services program and Health Center. The working poor and uninsured may sign up for general dental care, cleaning and restorative care.

To learn more or register, appointments are required for initial examinations and a consultation. All basic dental care is offered on Tuesdays. Catholic Charities also can refer people to other free dental and community clinics in Tulsa and nearby communities. All services are provided by volunteer hygienists and dentists.

All dental assistance is provided in a multilingual environment, so either English or Spanish. There is no consideration given to a family’s nationality, ethnicity, or religious affiliation.

Some of what is provided by the Blessed Mother Teresa Dental Services Center includes Examination and diagnosis; Dental hygiene services; Removable full and partial dentures; Emergency relief of pain (extractions); and Restorative care. Call 918.508.7191

St. Padre Pio Assistance Center serves at risk families and individuals with meals, food, school or work clothing, prescription drugs and small amounts of cash assistance. More seasonal type resources include Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, Coats for Kids, Christmas toys, free fans and air conditioners, and school supplies.

Classes are offered by the Catholic Charities Adult Basic Education Program. The agency works in cooperation with multiple non-profit organizations, churches, and government agencies to provide a wide range of education, classes, and job training programs.

 

 

 

 

In addition, Adult Education programs from Tulsa Health Department as well as Union Public Schools hold classes at various Catholic Charity centers. They partner with other groups such as English as a Second Language, Community Plaza (Elementary and Middle School in Spanish), and other Basic Computer Skills.

Blessed Mother Teresa Women’s Health Services provided basic health care, with a focus on women and children. It operates from the Blessed Mother Teresa Health Center on the Catholic Charities campus. Health care includes prenatal and postnatal care, pregnancy testing, and tests. Call 918.508.7199.

Refugee and immigration services coordinate the transitional needs of immigrants and refugees that are resettled by the US State Department. Assistance programs and support can include food, housing, food, rent, and job placement.

Case workers will compassionately families and individuals with immigration matters. Call them for free legal consultation and representation. The Tulsa Oklahoma Catholic Charities Immigration Services is accredited and approved through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service.
