Get help with utility bills, rent, medications, and other aid

Crowley Christian Care Center supports the needy in the area, and they provide for the distribution to the needy of food and groceries (food drop-off location is 726 W. 7th St. in Crowley) for Crowley area residents only. Qualified individuals can also get used clothing, help paying rent and utility bills (no utility deposits or reconnect charges), help with paying for prescription medications, and gain referrals to other local non-profit agencies that may offer more services or assistance programs. The local government also offers numerous assistance programs. Call Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government for more information or to apply. The aid they receive includes the following.

  • Federal government funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a program that provides financial assistance to seniors, low-income, elderly, disabled, and others who experience a financial situation or crisis. Help may be provided up to once every 6 months with utility bills. Applicants to the program must meet low-income guidelines. Dial (985) 868-5050. Immediately below are just a sampling of some of the programs and services that are offered.
     
  • Emergency Financial Assistance. Low income residents can get help with paying rent, utilities and prescription medications for low-income individuals.
     
  • Housing Rehabilitation and Repairs will assist low to moderate income families with bringing their existing homes up to parish codes. Must meet low-income guidelines to qualify for aid.

 

 

 

Christian Care and Share Center may from time to time have funding. When funds are available from this charity organization, this agency gives free food to the low income and the needy (food is supplied by food pantry), household goods and furniture (based on availability) as well as new or used clothes, they can provide help with paying rent and utility bills, transportation assistance is provided for emergencies and other emergency and financial needs. Catholic Charities, Terrebonne, offers qualified low income individuals with numerous aid. Some of the services provided include Good Samaritan Food Banks, which will assist with emergency food and may also be able to provide household and personal items to individuals or families in Crisis. Another program is known as Catholic Housing Services, which in particular enables first time homeowners to purchase homes with credit, debt help, knowledge of budget counseling and education. Other resources and services offered include Small Business Loans (learn more on loan programs), Employment, Job Training; Financial Assistance, Prescription Medication Assistance and access to Personal Hygiene Items.
