Summit County Love Inc. assistance programs.

Love Inc. helps income qualified low income families or those facing a crisis. Most of the assistance is focused on providing basic needs such as food, diapers from a ministry, clothing, and so called shelter. Other assistance in Summit County is for more complicated needs, and this includes poverty fighting tactics such as education or employment. Love Inc. can offer referrals to these programs from their info line.

The assistance provided can come in the form of vouchers, such as for medications. Or there may some instances in which Love Inc. can refer people to non-profits in Akron or the county that can provide a small dollar amount of money for expenses such as heating or water bills or rent. Or, if there are no other options available, then the staff may refer the applicant to one of their partner organizations.

For working poor members of the community, the Love. Inc of Summit County is able to provide a quantity of food per family, not on an individual basis. This includes non-perishable groceries, fresh food and produce as available and also holiday baskets.

Summit County Love Inc. will give out groceries on a monthly basis to low-income clients. Not only may it include some of the non-perishable food items referenced above, but there will also be dry goods, cans, household paper products, free baby food and diapers. They also try to provide individuals with fresh food and produce weekly (as available).

Basics needs can be met by the Summit County Love. Inc clothing closet. Volunteers stop by the site to give back to the community. The staff clean, sort, and package donated items each and every week. There are also fund raisers help and contributions from local businesses.
-There may be clothes for work or school.
-Free diapers are available from the charity for qualified Akron families.
-The ministry can sometimes provide furniture, such as bed linens, cribs for low income moms, and kitchenware.
-School items as well as supplies, ranging from scout uniforms, backpacks, shoes, and more are for low income residents.

The Love Inc. agency’s core service is the assistance and referral program, which is designed for county of Summit residents in a financial crisis. Clients receive monetary aid for utility service, rent or shelter, food, clothing, furniture and household items. This financial relief is part of a strategy developed between individuals from the region, local charities and the agency to help clients resolve a crisis.

 

 

 

Love of Summit County often works in tandem with other agencies to provide adequate resources for clients. There are partnerships with aging centers to help seniors, government agencies on housing, and others. Bilingual services are also provided or Spanish-speaking clients.

A program is specifically focused on Ohio Edison customer. The ministry may be able to help them if they are faced with a shut off of their power. Of particular focus is on Love Inc. assisting Summit County families during the winter months. So extra funds may be paid out for paying heating bills.

Love of Summit County provides outreach, information, and referral services to older adults. There is a goal of helping Akron and nearby seniors remain in their own homes and as independent as possible.

Depending on individual needs, such as income and other factors, staff may arrange programs and services that include help with personal care, shopping for food or meal preparation, and other daily tasks that can become difficult with age. Referrals are available both to ministries at Love and to resources offered by other community service agencies and non-profit organizations.

As part of Summit County Love Inc. commitment to improving the health, safety, and quality of life of Summit County children and youth, the non-profit faith based agency teams up with parents and other agencies in the community. Together these individuals, staff, and parents coordinate programs that foster optimal early childhood development and education.

The agencies will support families; and help to ensure that young children are ready when it’s time to begin school. Love Inc. will use a holistic approach that integrates nutrition, early literacy, medical needs, adult literacy, and mental health services to best assist low-income children and their families. For younger children, they may have diapers from a ministry as well.
