Free food pantries, groceries and food banks San Francisco.

Find a number of food pantries in the city and county of San Francisco that provide assistance, support, guidance, and more to low income families. In addition to the social services, they of course distribute free groceries, personal hygiene supplies, Meals on Wheels and food boxes to those who need help in the community. There are several charities, churches or non-profit organizations that operate food pantries near you to stop by or call in the region for assistance.

Below you will find a listing of the main San Francisco free, emergency food banks as well as soup kitchens. There is also a phone number at the bottom of the page for other food assistance programs. Some are only open limited hours, and may have an application process or require proof of your hardship, so it is always recommended to call the food pantry first to learn about any terms or conditions they have. If you don’t meet their qualifications, then look into state of California government programs such as CalFresh. Or WIC can provide free infant formula as well as baby supplies.

San Francisco food pantries, churches, social service offices, non-profits, and free food banks provide help, such as free groceries, to tens of thousands of families every year. Some locations also provide items such as clothing, holiday meals, or free back to school supplies. They also try to feed the homeless or operate Meals on Wheels delivery services. Many people need some short term support to make it through a difficult period or crisis, and the distribution centers help meet that need.
