A number of rent assistance and housing programs provide help to Nassau County New York families and individuals. The programs are focused on the low income, seniors, disabled, and others who are faced with a hardship. Some of the organizations provide financial assistance to pay rent, and others may offer referrals or can help people find affordable housing. In addition, funds are often limited to people who are faced with an eviction. They will usually receive priority when it comes to applying for some grants or funds to pay their rent to avoid the eviction. Housing authorities across Nassau County can oftentimes direct people to rental assistance programs, or help people apply for aid from such programs as section 8 housing or the federal government homeless prevention program. Receive emergency rental assistance from the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program. The funds provided are intended to prevent evictions, pay for security deposits, and even moving costs. Other assistance includes credit counseling, utility assistance, and housing counseling. If you need to move into a new home or apartment, then money can pay for first months rent too.

Westbury Salvation Army - Another local branch of the Nassau County Salvation Army. Call for case management, eviction prevention, and possibly financial assistance for rent. An emergency shelter will also be available.
