Free food pantries, groceries and soup kitchens in Queens NY.

Find where Queens New York low-income families will receive help from free food banks, pantries near them, and soup kitchens. The main places to turn to for assistance today include local churches, senior centers, charities and local non-profit organizations. Get free groceries, a hot meal, pet food and more. Families also apply for government benefits such as SNAP food stamps or WIC. Locate free food banks and pantries near you in Queens NY borough.

The free food banks are open limited hours and applicants will need to meet any application requirements that are in place. The food pantries provide free emergency groceries to single moms, people with no money and those in a financial hardship in the Queens area. However they serve people of all ethnicities and nationalities, including Hispanics, legal or illegal immigrants, minorities, Asians, and others.

There is also a free referral number for more assistance programs at the bottom of the page. Depending on the pantry, the items provided today can range from canned goods, groceries, personal toiletries, to fresh fruits and vegetables. Catholic Charities Programs
As with most Catholic Charities churches in Queens and other cities, the location administers several social services and emergency programs. Examples include a food pantry, clothing closet, thrift store and free Christmas assistance. While more limited, some cash assistance may be offered in a crisis to Queens residents, in particular to prevent homelessness including funds for paying rent or energy bills. A hot meal may be offered as well as referrals to social services. The homeless may also get some clothing, blanket, or information on local shelters in Queens.

Queens borough New York City Salvation Army Social Services
Salvation Army has several locations and food pantries in the Queens area. The primary locations are below. Each will have a pantry and they also partner with other charities in Queens. A clothing closet and thrift store is also available at most sites. Other activities offered, some by referrals, including applications for HEAP or food stamps.

Some of what may be offered includes free Christmas assistance, holiday meals (Thanksgiving and Christmas), a box of food, and seasonal programs like school supplies and backpacks. There is also free household cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, and goods like soap, detergent, and feminine goods. Also get information on transitional housing and other programs for basic needs.

Seniors, homebound, and elderly in Queens
They help seniors, no matter their income. Programs include Meals on Wheels, recreation activities, and health check ups. There are multiple senior centers as noted below. The elderly can also learn about Commodity Supplemental Food Program, free ensure for nutrition, cooking classes, and other assistance.
