A number of services are provided by food banks in the Portland Oregon area. Call or stop by a center to get free meals, groceries, or information and access to other programs and forms of assistance.
Most sites will help not only people in Portland, but also across the entire Multnomah County area of Oregon. Most centers are non-profits, and they may be churches, Salvation Army, Community Action Agencies, or a number of other centers that are all committed to helping the less fortunate by providing food, meals, and groceries.
The Oregon Food Bank coordinates many of the assistance programs and agencies. Usually this organization distributes food to the local and regional food banks and centers in your neighborhood, and that is where people can stop by at to get food and/or information. Or get holiday meals and assistance, as well as help in applying for food stamps. Many pantries also distribute clothing and household products.
