Rental assistance in Bay County Florida.

Many of the rental and housing assistance programs in Bay County Florida are have limited resources. They are focused on helping veterans, single mothers (or parents with kids) and/or military members. However there may be some form of help for paying rent provided to other low income tenants that are in a crisis and threatened by an eviction. Find how and where to get emergency grants for rental arrears, security deposit money, housing vouchers from HUD and other assistance in Panama City and the county below.

The resources available in the region are limited. While some of the agencies as well as churches that provide help do assist with rent, many of the programs are focused on other housing needs such as providing a homeless shelter or free motel voucher for a short term stay. Some of the non-profits also only issue loans to pay some back rent or the security deposit on a new low income apartment in Panama City. The main charities and government programs to try are below. Note that is often also a waiting list in place for any funding.

Charities and churches for rent help in Panama City area

Catholic Social Services - Main address is 3128 E 11th Street, Panama City, Florida 32401. The hours for any emergency rent assistance applications are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 8-4 and Friday from 8 to noon. Most of the financial aid is for pregnant women, immigrants or single moms. Some emergency rent help may be offered along with counseling and guidance from the church. Call 850-763-0475.

Family Services Agency is a non-profit that administers a number of assistance programs. Everything from housing to job placement, grants to pay past due rental costs, and landlord mediation services from the office at 114 E 9th Street, Panama City, Florida 32401. Phone: 850-785-1721.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Share Ministry helps the less fortunate, homeless and elderly, among others. Some limited, short term housing resources are offered. Office address - 5610 Boat Race Rd, Panama City, FL 32404. Dial (850) 871-0081 for hours. If this faith based group can’t help with housing costs, find other churches that help with rent payments.

Salvation Army Of Bay County is a Christian faith based group with an address of 1824 W 15th Street
Panama City, FL 32401. The intake number is 850-769-5259. Referrals may be given to shelters, transitional housing, and financial aid programs for paying rent. Any money available (which is rare) is for a crisis only, and will only be if the family proves the ability to pay for energy costs and rent on their own. They also have housing placement and free motel or hotel voucher programs in Panama City.

 

 

 

Beach Care Services is at 9128 Front Beach Rd, Panama City Beach, FL 32407. They only support Panama City. Phone - 850-235-3002. Financial help for paying rental costs is for Panama City Beach families only.

Family of God Baptist Church - East Campus address is 901 East Highway 98, Panama City, Florida 32401. The housing expense that might be paid is utility bills. There will be up to $25 available when funding allows it. They also offer guidance and case management services to single parents or the homeless. Call Main Phone – 850-769-4021.

Grace Presbyterian Church may have limited financial help, mostly for electric bills. But the funds (which are not paid to the applicant but th the vendor) may be used to stop an eviction for a renter. The parish is at 1415 Airport Rd, Panama City, Florida 32405. Call (850) 769-4000

American Red Cross of the Central Panhandle – Bay County covers military members. Members of the armed forces only and their families can apply for emergency rent or deposit assistance. They also offer counseling, information on VA benefits, food, and help for moving. The office is at 430 East 15th Street, Panama City, Florida 32405. Call 877-272-7337.

Legal Services of North Florida - Address: 211 E 11th St., Panama City, FL 32401. Clients, including the elderly and indigent, can get legal aid to stop evictions and address housing issues, such as discrimination or landlords not making repairs. There are attorneys who provide free eviction defense help in Bay County. Call Phone: (850) 769-3581.

BASIC NWFL, Inc. is at 432 Magnolia Ave, Panama City, FL 32401. Call 850-785-1088. HIV patients or those with AIDs can get utility deposit help, grants for mortgages or rent, shelter, and even placement into local Bay County transitional housing programs.

Panama City Housing Authority - Main office is at 804 E 15th St, Panama City, Florida 32405. Phone number : (850) 769-2358. They process applications for section 8 HUD vouchers and provide self-sufficiency too. Some people, such as elderly or disabled, can apply for emergency HUD section 8.

 

 

 

 

Air Force Aid Society - Members of the Air Force (and their families) can apply for interest free loans for paying bills, rent, and other crisis aid. Or get help with VA benefits, government housing and other support. Location is 45 MSS/DPF, 721 Suwannee Road, Building 745. Call 850-283-4204

Bay County Council on Aging - Senior citizens and the disabled (regardless of their income) can get support. Referrals are available for as bills or supportive housing. Clients can also be referred to rent or medical care services. Location is 1116 Frankford Avenue, Panama City, Florida, 32401. Dial 850-769-3468.

Panama City Rescue Mission
There are multiple sites. Emergency homeless shelters, meals, clothes, and other basic needs. Everything from meals to blankets, referrals, and clothing is offered from the shelter.
