St. Vincent De Paul assistance programs Orlando and Orange County Florida.

Several churches as well as hundreds of volunteers work with St. Vincent De Paul, or SVDP, in the Orlando region. Thousands of struggling individuals receive help, including for food, housing, furniture and other needs. Saint Vincent Conferences will also offer referrals and other social services each and every year. They are one of the leading charities in Orange County Florida and also nationwide for that matter.  While the specifics of each parish will vary, and resources are limited, some of the assistance programs include the following.

-Seniors and the elderly can receive home visits or delivered meals or lunches. Care for the elderly is provided by volunteers.
-Housing assistance, including partial rent payments, may occasionally by offered by St. Vincent. This is usually only for those Orange County families facing homelessness.
-Job training and placement is available from St. Vincent, which can lead to self-sufficiency.
-Disaster relief, including shelter, meals, clothing, and water.
-Food pantries may have groceries. Dining halls may serve a hot meal to the elderly, homeless, or low income in the community.
-Thrift stores are open to the general public. They will sell low cost, but gently used furniture, clothing, household goods, and more. Many residents are pleasantly surprised at the selection of clothing items available in women's, men's and children's sizes.
-Other basic needs in Orange County Florida include clothing, school supplies, and assistance with utility costs.
-Home furnishing items may be available at churches or stores. When it comes to furnishing your apartment or home, people will generally only pay a fraction of store prices for tables, sofas, chairs, beds, and large appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers or stoves.

What will usually happen is a volunteer from the Society of St. Vincent will need to visit your home to better understand your needs. After this application process they will try to direct or provide you with resources, including financial aid, to help you deal with the challenges being faced.

In addition to all of that, if the charity can't help you or your family, they will often have referrals to other programs and resources in central Florida. Or get help in applying for government aid. The main mission of St Vincent de Paul is to provide person-to-person service to those who are suffering and in need of help. Dial 407.880.3126 for more information.

Advocacy and case management is offered. The so called Voice of the Poor is offered by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Orange County. Social workers will try to identify those issues that are critical to those living in poverty and need. They will help clients overcome those challenges and work with them to reduce or ideally eliminate poverty in Orange County.
