Food pantries in Angelina and Nacogdoches County not only provide groceries or hot meals, but other supplies may be offered too. Depending on the center, this may include diapers or free baby formula for new parents, clothes or school supplies for children, and Christmas toys or meal programs. There are also food assistance programs focused on immigrants and Spanish speakers in Angelina or Nacogdoches County.
Most of the charities listed below are part of the Eastern Texas Feeding America Food Bank. This means they coordinate in order to remove duplication of services. They also work together in order to ensure as many families as possible receive free food and that the donations continue to come in the doors of these cupboards.
When calling or stopping in at a pantry, note that they may sometimes need to turn individuals away. This is due to limited resources. But even those families may be referred to a nearby site. Or to prevent a senior citizen from needing to drive back to the pantry, the person can always sign up for a Mobile Pantry or Meals on Wheels service. Or inquire at a charity to other local food banks and their services.
