The main government assistance programs in the region are provided by the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services. The Montgomery County Job Bank is the regions main resource for labor exchange activities. The program can assist by promoting maximum employment and staff at the center can even help area businesses and organizations find the talent they need.
Individuals who go to the job bank will be tested, pre-screened, and referred to employers, if they meet conditions. Using government grants and public assistance, the Job Bank offers candidates a state of the art resource room for job search activities and career exploration.
The location will offer computer access to many Internet based job banks and career resources, databases on hiring companies, assistance with job search skills and job readiness, referrals to training programs, and free access to a computer, fax machine and copy machine. Much more is available too, such as occasional job fairs in Montgomery County.
The elderly in the community can receive help from the Montgomery County Senior Services Network. This will help frail senior citizens remain living in their homes and avoid premature institutionalization into a nursing home or public facility. Some of the resources available may include home delivered meals, support for care takers, medications, and much more.
