The Gateway Community Action Group offers numerous programs to help struggling people in Montgomery, Bath, Menifee, Morgan and Rowan counties, including the city of Mount Sterling. Find information on ways to get assistance below.

Prescription assistance - The organization has created a new plan for providing prescription assistance funded by ARRA. The Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) helps people who have limited or no health insurance coverage get free or cheap prescription medicines. The PAP program will support families and individuals who are beneath the 200 percent federal poverty level that is established each year by the federal government. Assistance is provided based upon family income, but there are other factors as well. Some other factors include aid is offered depending on the medicine they need and if there is an availability of that particular medicine. If they qualify for the program, they can get free medications.

Child Care Assistance Program - This will help low and moderate income families pay for quality child care.

Heating assistance - They offer the LIHEAP program, which offers several types of assistance including bill payment assistance, weatherization programs, direct grants for emergencies, and also money to pay or restore service in a crisis.

Housing assistance - Also, the Gateway Community Services Organization, Inc. will help people either buy a home, stay in their home, or stop from being evicted. They have sessions that help low income people with budgeting, housing affordability issues, debt management, and repairs and maintenance.

Credit and debt counseling - A service known as Financial Partners can ensure people have the right financial skills and ensure their finances or back on track to ensure long term success. For example the program can help people create a budget, improve their credit, and reduce debts. Learn about services such as debt settlement pros and cons.

Other programs - As just a sampling of some of the other resources and aid offered include Head Start and also job training and finding services. Some senior support programs are also in place.
