Free food banks and emergency pantries in Michigan.

Find details on free Michigan food banks, pantries, and distribution centers as well as government benefit programs. There are charities and government programs that provide free or low cost food today, groceries, applications to SNAP food assistance and other non-financial support. This can often include hot meals and holiday assistance as well. Locate a free food pantry near you in MI.

Many locations have drive thru pantries on site as well. There is also a phone number at the bottom of the page for referrals to other locations. Many of the food banks are part of Feeding America. They partner with local churches, non-profits, and charities across Michigan. Together they help hundreds of thousands of low income people and families every year.

The free food banks and pantries also offer emergency groceries for people in a hardship as well as free Meals on Wheels in MI. They provide millions of pounds of canned groceries, meals, and food. In addition, keep in mind that many non-profit organizations and charities, such as the Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul and Catholic Charities, among others, may also have free food. Some of the sites may also address other needs, such as process applications for SNAP food stamps, give out EBT cards or USDA commodities. Regional and county wide food centers in MI

Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan provides assistance in the most populous counties, including Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, as well as Wayne. Programs include the Summer Feeding Program, Pet Pantry for free dog or cat food, Mobile Farm Markets and more. They also have a free drive thru food bank. Forgotten Harvest also supports the Detroit Michigan metro area, as well as the counties of Macomb, Oakland, as well as Wayne. Food Gatherers is a Feeding America location. They only support one county in Michigan, and that is Washtenaw. However there are many assistance programs, ranging from Senior Box Program (CSFP) to Nutrition Education and of course referrals. As the center works with local charities, churches and non-profit pantries soup kitchens, and feeding sites.

Supports the entire capital region of Michigan. Emergency bags of groceries and more can be passed out. As the name implies, offers coverage to the eastern portion of the state. Greater Lansing Food Bank works with volunteers, corporations, and food drives to help the low income get a meal. A major focus is on ensuring "vulnerable" people in the service territory have the food, meals, and nutritional they need. This includes children, the elderly, disabled and students during the summer holiday or weekends.

The address is 5600 Food Court, Bath, MI 48808. The location covers the counties of Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Isabella, and Shiawassee County. Everything from Mobile Food pantries to cooking and wellness classes, free hot meals or boxes of groceries, and Meals on Wheels services can be offered via referrals. Call 517.853.7800.

South Michigan Food Bank is for residents in the counties of Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lenawee, or St. Joseph. assistance programs include, but are not limited too, SNAP Outreach Program including applications to the public assistance programs. The elderly or seniors can apply to CSFP, or the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

Feeding America West Michigan has a few locations, including small distribution centers. They are noted below. This Feeding America non-profit covers the largest geography in Michigan. Tens of thousands of people receive help, whether free groceries or information, each month. Hundreds of faith based agencies, churches in Michigan, corporations and others partner on the Hunger Prevention programs too.

Food Bank of Eastern Michigan has programs such as USDA/TEFAP, referrals to emergency food pantries, meals for the homeless and more.
