Free Christmas and holiday assistance Mecklenburg County and Charlotte.

Low income families with children and seniors have several charities in the Mecklenburg County region that provide free Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holiday assistance. Find where to get free Christmas gifts, applications to Toys for Tots, grocery or holiday food boxes and more below. While the focus is on children and the elderly in the Charlotte NC community, others may be able to get help as well. Find free Christmas help near you in Mecklenburg County.

Learn about Angel Tree, Adopt a Family and other holiday resources. Most of the holiday programs, such as those from the Salvation Army, operate based on the generosity of donations as well as people from the community. So as resources allow, some of what may be passed out during the holidays include free toys, gifts, shoes, games and toys. Children from age 0 to as old as 17 may get free gifts such as Legos, tablets, video games or consoles, books, sporting goods, dolls and more.

Many of the organizations will also serve hot meals, especially at Thanksgiving or Christmas time. Very few restrictions are in place for a free holiday food program in Mecklenburg County. Free Christmas gifts from charities in the Charlotte NC area

The Salvation Army Christmas Programs
This location covers both Mecklenburg and nearby Union County. The Christmas Bureau, as a result of the Angel Tree and Silver Bells, has new free gifts, toys and similar items for qualified low income families. Seniors can get items too. Free turkeys may be served at Thanksgiving. Other holiday meals may be offered as well, and there may be Easter celebrations held.

This non-profit now focuses on lower income neighborhoods. Other holiday programs are for single parents, the homeless, and mothers. The elderly in Mecklenburg can benefit from home delivered meals and holiday companionship. There are special holiday parties and celebrations held as well.

Saint Patrick's Cathedral

They serve a free Christmas dinner and also provide meals to seniors and the homebound. Meals are served at the school cafeteria. Volunteers are always needed from the Mecklenburg County region.

New Outreach Ministries

The doors of this charity are open with food, holiday programs, and Christian ministry on every major holiday, including Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Kids may get free Christmas stocking stuffers or candy, and single moms or the homeless in Charlotte can also get help.

Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church

The Community Service Center has a food pantry, clothing bank, and other basic needs. During the holidays, Mecklenburg County families can receive free toys or holiday gift baskets. It is for children or teenagers at Christmas. Clients can't be receiving assistance at Salvation Army.

The charity is also part of Toys for Tots, in which donated toys and clothing are given to children from the Charlotte region. As part of USMC programs, children can be given (for free) new, wrapped gifts. There are items for boys, girls, Christmas presents, and other support provided.

Most of the holiday programs are focused on the homeless in the county. Free hot meals, companionship, and other aid is offered. There may be free Thanksgiving turkey dinners, small gifts, Christmas decorations and basic needs for the holiday.

Free Toys for Tots in Mecklenburg County
Donations from the community, such as toys, gifts, and winter clothing, is given to children, infants, and youth Low-incoem parents may be given free Christmas toys for their kids. There may be clothes, matchbox cars, Barbie dolls and more. Registrations and applications are done online.

Greater Temple Baptist Church

They accept applications for the Mecklenburg County free Toys for Tots program. It is for single moms, the working poor, and kids from very low income families. There are also free holiday food boxes and other resources.

Crisis Assistance Ministry is a charity that help families living in poverty as well as single moms among others. Assistance ranges from free Christmas toys, books, and games for kids to food and even Thanksgiving meals. They also offer financial aid, counseling, and other social services. Kids First of the Carolinas

They help kids in the Mecklenburg County area. Everything from bicycles or birthday toys to Christmas presents, gift certificates and other items may be offered. There are even free holiday parties for children, the elderly and others in need in the area.

There are free Christmas toys, gift cards, and other stuff. This may include clothes, games, books and other items for the Xmas holiday.

A holiday assistance programs is offered for the low-income, homeless, single moms and others. Free Christmas toys for kids, sneakers, clothes and more. There will be gender specific gifts.

Other charities and government entities

  • HopeMatch is a volunteer driven agency. They have many services, ranging from free back to school supplies to Christmas gifts and Adopt a Family services. There is also project Celebrate for birthday parties and gifts.
     
  • ​​Charlotte-Mecklenburg Explorer Christmas Project - The police as well as fire department provide free Christmas toys or gifts to less fortunate children in the city of Charlotte NC only. The program is known as Explorers Christmas Project. The stuff provided is collected from the public as part of Angel Tree. There may be clothes, Christmas tree decorations, board games, hygiene supplies and more.
