Emergency financial assistance can be directly provided, or social workers from Catholic Charities can provide referrals. The non-profit agency offers qualified low income and working poor individuals emergency assistance and resources that can be used to pay for a number of needs and bills.
A focus is on housing costs and homeless prevention, so funds can be used to pay for rent, heating bills, and utilities. This is offered for people with an eviction notice or disconnection. Other basic needs can be met as well. This includes vouchers or funds for diapers, food, and other basic needs. This may be offered for individuals in McHenry and Kane County who are experiencing an economic hardship that is not of their creation.
If Catholic Charities does not have funding, or maybe you will not qualify, then personnel from the Emergency Assistance Program can refer callers and those in need to appropriate community agencies and non-profits that may be able to assist them.
