Maine free food banks and food pantries.

Find a listing of food banks, soup kitchens and free emergency food pantries that may be near you in Maine. The distribution centers are run by non-profit organizations, charities or churches that provide assistance to low-income families, seniors and people who need help. The items provided by each center will vary, but may include free food, groceries, meat, frozen items, Meals on Wheels and nutritional support. Many of the pantries in ME also pass out free personal hygiene supplies or toiletries as well as operate drive thru food banks. Or they serve Christmas, holiday, and Thanksgiving meals. Many unemployed and low income families from the greater Maine community rely on the centers and the generosity of their volunteers as well as donors, including the free Meals on Wheels for the elderly or seniors over 60 in ME.

While many of the programs are focused on the low income and elderly, it is true that in general people facing a hardship can get help from a Maine food bank. Community and regional free food and banks in ME

Good Shepherd Food Bank is the main Feeding America affiliate for the state. They partner with hundreds of local emergency food pantries, government social service agencies and feeing sites to feed the low income and struggling. The non-profit will direct people to a local free food distribution center near them for groceries, produce, government commodities and more.

 

 

 

The non-profit also help with applications to government benefits, including SNAP food stamps, USDA free school lunches, WIC vouchers for baby formula and free food for refugees or asylum seekers. This location serves the towns of Naples, Sebago, Casco, Bridgton and Harrison with free meals and free food boxes. The charity will also offer seniors or single moms free Christmas and Thanksgiving meals, all of which may also be provided.

This Feeding America Maine center has partnerships and works with numerous other soup kitchens, food banks and pantries that are located across the region and that may be near you.
