Free clothing closets, school supplies and furniture Lee County Florida.

Clothing “closets” as well as furniture banks provide free items and vouchers to the public. There are sites across Lee County Florida, including in Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Clients may be given free clothes for work or school, furniture for an apartment or home, diapers, medical equipment, back to school items, and so much more. Very low income residents and people with emergency needs may receive free items while others can obtain low cost goods from thrift stores. Churches, non-profits like the Salvation Army and other charities operate across Lee County.

The demand for assistance is always greater than what can be met. The clothing closets rely heavily on donations from the community. This means that what is available will change throughout the course of the year and is limited. Some of the free Lee County centers may have clothing for work or school supplies while others may even have free Christmas assistance and gifts for the less fortunate. Or find clothes for summer, backpacks for students, or a bed for a child. It is usually best to call in advance for hours and what is in stock.

If you need help, have a child, or are a senior citizen then special resources may be available, including wheelchairs or crutches. The non-profits try to focus on assisting people who are most at risk, and teenagers and children will fall into that category.
