Get help with water, electric, gas, or propane bills. They also run a disaster program, and the non-profit also provides emergency assistance for survivors of disasters, such as flooding or fires.
Additional services are offered as well. In addition, the non-profit provides vouchers to be used at their thrift store. The on site thrift store sells adult, baby clothing, professional work, and children's clothes, and, when available; may also have work shoes, baby furniture, beds, kitchenware, diapers, baby supplies, car seats, and furniture.
Other programs offered by Southside Community Center include home renovation or repair, in February and during the summer, to families with low income or who may be struggling to get by. This local community action agency also provides limited, emergency financial assistance with a focus on energy bills. Funding for this emergency service program is very limited, and it is relevant to the applicants need for crisis assistance, and is not available at certain times of the year. Salvation Army - San Marco ((512) 754-8541) may be able to offer the following emergency services and financial assistance on a case by case basis when funds and supplies are available. Limited nonperishable free food assistance, partial financial assistance for paying electric bills, water bills, gas bills, gasoline vouchers for medical appointments only and single-use and monthly bus passes. They often work with other regional charities and organizations to coordinate services and advocacy. Santa Cruz Catholic Church Buda-Society Of St. Vincent De Paul may have financial assistance every six months. Expenses that can be paid for include rent, mortgage, utilities such as electric, water, and gas bills. Communicare Health Centers San Marco Clinic provides medical services and charges patients based on a sliding scale. Among other services they provide primary health and medical care for adults and children. Services offered by the clinic include acute and chronic disease management, immunizations, well-child visits, family planning, health education, lab tests, and physical exams. Dial (512) 392-1718.
In addition to the financial programs noted above, the Community Action Incorporated of Hays County also provides medical care. They run a clinic that provides primary health care diagnosis and treatment for women and men with low income or who are unemployed.
