Families in Galveston County Texas can get free food and meals from several food banks and pantries in the area. Some of the centers also offer personal hygiene goods as well as clothing. Find below the main churches, charities, and programs to contact for assistance, meals, groceries, and/or perishable items.

The demand for services in Galveston is high, and many of the food pantries have limited resources, so be sure to call early as there may be waiting lists. There will also be limited amount of help available. Not only can the pantries provide meals, groceries, and government surplus food, but many also offer other forms of non-monetary assistance. For example, you may be able to receive clothing, household products, access to a thrift store, hygiene items, or other forms of help, referrals, and support.

The Galveston County Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that provides free food for people at risk of hunger or those facing a crisis throughout Galveston County. The charity meets its goals by distributing food via pantries, mobile pantries in the county, emergency food, & programs for children and homebound residents. In addition, a food box is given to the homebound and disabled. The non-profit assists senior citizens, the disabled, and vulnerable. A key aim is helping people over the age of 65.
