Community action agencies

The following non-profit is the leading non-profit in Floyd County Georgia to call for help. They may be able to provide you with financial assistance, or direct you to agencies who can. Tallatoona Community Action Partnership, Inc.

  • Health care and prescription drug assistance - The so called Indigent Medical Services Program is designed to help working poor and low-income patients receive their prescribed medications. Our Advocates work with Drug Companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, Physicians and Hospitals to obtain the medications free of charge or at a reduced rate. They can also direct people to clinics and places to get low cost or free health care, or help people deal with medical and hospital bills. Learn more.
  • Food Banks - Surplus food is available. The agency may also have holiday meals or items such as free clothing for income qualified Floyd County families. This is all offered through an emergency food bank.
     
  • Energy bill assistance - The agency can direct people to programs that provide help for paying both winter heating and summer cooling bills. They can also provide free fans, and information on assistance programs that are offered by local utility companies.

  • Housing and rent programs - Through various partnerships with local charities, non-profit agencies and churches the Tallatoona community action agency will help locate additional resources for providing rent assistance, help for utility bills, gas and water bills.
     
  • Weatherization - This is a free program for eligible homeowners. If qualified for weatherization, a team of professionals will repair or replace windows, insulate your home, add both storm windows and add weather stripping to your home free of charge.
     
  • Counseling and case management - Access budgeting, financial counseling, credit repair, and debt management programs.

Credit counseling, debt reduction, and mortgage assistance

Consumer Credit Counseling of Floyd County is a non-profit that provides many financial services, most of which are low cost or free. Call them at (706) 291-4150. Among services offered include Creditor Repayment Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, as well as Household Budget Management. The non-profit also offer free Debt Management, automobile loan payment resources and Credit Repair.

 

 

 

 

Agencies that provide non-financial aid

These places may be able to provide free food, clothing, household products, and advice. Some church or charity locations will offer free Christmas meals or holiday programs for children as well.
