The eviction / foreclosure prevention program offers homeowners with foreclosure mediation, assessment, grants, and direct financial assistance for low to moderate income Connecticut residents experiencing a non-recurring, unexpected, documentable financial hardship or emergency. The programs are for those who have past due rent or mortgage payments and who have received a notice to of foreclosure on their home. The amount of direct cash assistance provided is determined on a case by case basis; however, the maximum allowable grant for each homeowner is $1200. The Trumbull Community Action Program (TCAP) is offering a food co-op program that will in effect provide people with either free, or very low priced food. Homeless Prevention and Eviction Assistance

The Fairfield County Connecticut United Way is managing the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) on a local basis. The federal government program offers rental assistance to qualified individuals for a maximum of up to 18 months. Further details include applicants can get up to 6 months of back rent, which counts against the 18 month maximum of assistance that is available.
