Essex County and Newark clothing closets.

Basic needs are provided to the low income in Essex County New Jersey. Regional clothing closets and non-profits may distribute items to the needy such as free clothes, diapers, furniture, gifts around Christmas or school supplies during the summer or fall. The items are usually distributed from charities, churches, and similar distribution centers in the Newark area.

The clothing closets are open limited hours and resources available to the public can run short. It is recommend to call in advance. Depending on donations, what may be available includes free coats, clothes, boots, shoes, and school supplies. Some holiday items, especially around Christmas, may be offered too. While even more rare, limited financial aid may be available on site.

The locations will do their best to meet everyone needs and not turn anyone away. However if you do not qualify for help, or if the clothing closet can’t meet your specific request, they may refer individuals to other options, such as nearby charities or government aid. Volunteers do their best to help the less fortunate.
