Low income households in Ellis County can find financial help for paying bills as well as basic needs. Medical facility

The HOPE Clinic is an Ellis County medical facility that provides health care to everyone, whether they have insurance or not, and whether they can afford to pay their bills or not. The goal of the clinic is to offer health care for all individuals and families. They address chronic and acute medical care, provide free or discounted prescription medications; dental care, access to laboratory, radiography and specialist referrals, health education and preventative health information, prenatal care, and also mental health care. It is very important to note that all patients are welcome to use HOPE clinic services. Note that some private and HMO health insurance plans are accepted, as well as Medicaid, Medicare, and Texas CHIP plans. Even if you do not have any health insurance, and if you do not qualify for any other assistance programs, whether federal or state of Texas, the clinic offers a sliding fee schedule based on family size and income. The Salvation Army of Waxahachie offers emergency assistance, disaster relief, summer programs, Christmas assistance, meals, and more programs to the low income as well as others who need help. The agency offers a limited amount of funds and emergency financial assistance to qualified individuals to help them pay rent, for utility bills, mortgage payments, and prescriptions.

You need to be found qualified to receive help from the non-profit. In addition, the Salvation Army of Ellis County also maintain an emergency food pantry on site that provides short-term assistance to those in financial crisis or who need help providing food for their families. Manna House of Midlothian offers a number of assistance programs. This includes clothing, free food, financial assistance with paying rent, utilities, medical and gas for travel to work. Other items offered include furniture, household items, educational classes, Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance, and back-to-school items. North Ellis County Outreach only helps people in the towns of Red Oak, Ferris, and Glenn Heights. Funds may assist with rent, prescription medications, and utility bills. Lancaster Outreach Center provides grants for electricity bills. Other resources include a food pantry, mental health counseling, and Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for Ellis County Texas area. 972-227-0138

Waxahachie Care is another local non-profit. Call them for low priced goods from the thrift store. Other aid is offered for TXU and Reliant bills, monthly rent, water expenses, and even medical bills. Free school supplies are offered too. 972-923-2273

Helping Hands of Ennis supports residents in the eastern part of the county. The location provides information and referral. Call for applications on limited emergency assistance for buying groceries, paying rent and utilities TXU only. Donations that are taken also allow the center to provide shoes, coats and school supplies to school age children and teenagers. The local community action agency, Community Services, Inc., ((972) 544-3160) is another non-profit organization that can help families in need. Contact the agency if you need access to weatherization assistance, funds for paying utility and air conditioning bills, or emergency cash grants for other expenses. Employment and job training is also offered. Housing and rent programs in Elli County - There are 10 agencies (charities, churches, and government programs) that address housing needs. This may be grants to pay back rent or section 8 housing. Attorneys can represent tenants (or homeowners) in court to fight evictions or foreclosures, and there are also funds for security deposit, shelter, and other resources. Calvary Baptist Food Pantry is another non-profit food bank. Call 214-535-4926 for hours.

Hope Clinic is staffed by volunteer doctors and nurses as well as other medical professionals. Outpatient medical clinic serves low income and uninsured residents of Ellis County.
