Dallas area free Christmas, Thanksgiving and holiday programs.

Several charities and churches across Dallas provide free holiday help, including on Christmas or Thanksgiving, to low income families. Based on donations from the community and the availability of volunteers, there may be hot meals served, free toys and gifts for children, or holiday gift or food baskets. Find how to get Dallas County free holiday and Christmas programs including Toys to Tots or Angel Tree as well as free Thanksgiving dinners.

A number of local churches and organizations such as the Salvation Army do their best to ensure that children as well as seniors are able to experience some type of holiday joy. The programs in Dallas County rely on donations from the community. What this means is that local businesses, individuals, and charities need to provide items for these holiday programs. So if these other organizations do not contribute clothes, money, games, toys, or other items, then the Christmas programs will be very limited in what they can pass out and many people will be turned away. Also, the free Thanksgiving or Christmas meals served also depend on groceries and other fresh items to be donated.

Applications will need to be completed in order to receive any assistance at Christmas. The process usually starts well before the holiday begins, and many non-profits in Dallas TX will start accepting and processing them in September or even earlier. Any toys or gift baskets are also usually passed out for free on a first come and served basis, so apply early.

Lastly, the Dallas organizations focus the holiday programs on children, seniors, infants, and people in nursing homes. So they will also take priority if and when needed.
