The Boston Massachusetts area is served by numerous federal government certified non-profit credit counseling agencies. Their goal is to help anyone in distress, and can assist individuals by offering qualified individuals with access to low cost or no-fee credit counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, debt management programs, and budgeting and education to consumers.
The primary goal of these organizations, many of which are also HUD certified, is to assist anyone in Suffolk County and Boston who is in financial distress and who needs help paying bills, debts, or their mortgage. They do this by offering credit and debt counseling, financial guidance and education, debt management assistance, bankruptcy counseling, and housing counseling assistance. Individuals can get advice via in-person sessions, over the phone, or through the Internet.
Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) – The local community action agency for Suffolk County. Mostly provides referrals, but can offer some financial advice, budgeting, and information on options such as federal government mortgage assistance programs. Also learn about other financial assistance programs, such as rent and energy bills.
