Financial aid from the Colorado Salvation Army
Financial assistance for paying rent and/or utilities can be provided at most once per year to qualified applicants in Colorado. Any help is only offered in a crisis situation, meaning that a customer needs to have an eviction notice or a utility shut off notice. If you do request this assistance, then you will need to be able to prove your hardship.
Applicants will need to bring a copy of their lease and eviction notice. Or if you are requesting money to pay a utility bill, then you will need to bring Social Security cards for all members of the family and a copy of the Utility Shut Off notice. In either case you will also need to bring proof of income and the financial hardship.
The Salvation Army in Colorado also partners with many non-profits in the state to offer heat and gas bill assistance. There are donation services used to help a qualified low income family, and the case managers can direct clients to these energy assistance programs in Colorado.
