Financial assistance from Salvation Army in Colorado.

Most of the Salvation Army Corp centers in Colorado listed below offer an assistance program known as Family Services. This focuses on low income families who are faced with a so called life crisis. Some of the assistance offered includes rent, heating and utilities, Christmas assistance, clothing, free back to school supplies or food. Thousands of Colorado families take advantage of the Family Services program every year, including seniors, those faced with poverty, and the homeless. Others shop at the low cost Family Store. Additional details are listed below.

Financial aid from the Colorado Salvation Army

Financial assistance for paying rent and/or utilities can be provided at most once per year to qualified applicants in Colorado. Any help is only offered in a crisis situation, meaning that a customer needs to have an eviction notice or a utility shut off notice. If you do request this assistance, then you will need to be able to prove your hardship.

Applicants will need to bring a copy of their lease and eviction notice. Or if you are requesting money to pay a utility bill, then you will need to bring Social Security cards for all members of the family and a copy of the Utility Shut Off notice. In either case you will also need to bring proof of income and the financial hardship.

The Salvation Army in Colorado also partners with many non-profits in the state to offer heat and gas bill assistance. There are donation services used to help a qualified low income family, and the case managers can direct clients to these energy assistance programs in Colorado.

A Food Box Program is offered as well as most Salvation Army locations. These may have limited availability. Food boxes may contain some or all of the following, such as canned fish, soups, fruit, vegetables, cereal, pasta, Peanut Butter, Hamburger / Tuna helper, Rice, Beans, and other donated items, which may include frozen meats and entrees.

Case management and self-sufficiency is always a focus of the Salvation Army. They help low income and struggling families. They assist with employment needs or advice in applying for benefits. There is information on social services like SNAP food stamps, drug or alcohol rehabilitation, and even items like free school supplies or work uniforms for students and/or job seekers.

Assistance around the holidays may be provided to the low income and homeless. One of the main services offered by the Salvation Army in Colorado is known as Angels Among Us Program. This offers Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas food boxes, free turkey meals, clothing, free toys and gifts for families in need. Hot meals are provided as well. This service is also combined with other charitable resources that may be able to offer Christmas help.
