Numerous charities and churches in the Collin County region operate clothing closets and thrift stores. The centers can provide basic needs and support to low income families, the jobless, children, and others. Free or gently used items may be passed out.
The regional thrift stores and clothing centers rely on donations and volunteers from the community. Many local fund raisers occur. Also, contributions come from businesses and people in the community. If you can donate or volunteer, please do so. Some of what may be needed includes school supplies, gently used clothing such as shoes or school supplies, furniture and personal hygiene goods. Some non-profits or churches may have some financial assistance as well for the poor and very low income.
Seasonal programs, including around Christmas, can help Plano and McKinney Texas families too. They may have clothes, toys, gifts, or vouchers for needy and in particular children from poor families.
