Clarion and Jefferson County assistance programs.

Several non-profits focus on addressing the needy as well as the low income and seniors in Jefferson and Clarion County Pennsylvania. The leading centers include the local community action agency, Salvation Army, and public agencies like the housing authority.

The Clarion and Jefferson Community Action, Inc. can help people apply for government aid. While this process occurs people will be able to meet with a counselor in order to gain long term support. For example, enroll in local job training, attend budgeting workshops, and gain other support.

Sign up for energy conservation from the Weatherization (ECW) Project. It is offered for renters and homeowners, and this program can help people save hundreds of dollars on their utility and heating bills. People who receive Temporary Aid to Need Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or who income is less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines can be automatically enrolled in weatherization.

Weatherization is free to qualified families in Jefferson County Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. The government program can lower energy and heating bills for low-income families, and will substantially reduce home energy consumption. It is a cost effective program.

Child Care Information Services is offered by Community Action, and advice and support can help eligible families pay for child care expenses and bills at their chosen provider. Get lists of approved child care providers, as well as resource and referral services to all families.

Additional emergency assistance offered in Clarion and Jefferson includes a free food bank, job training and career development, financial literacy, LIHEAP, adult education, subsidized child care, and general case management. More utility assistance in Pennsylvania.

Housing programs are available from the JCCAP community action agency. Federal government grants are used to pay a portion of rent for those facing an eviction. Case managers may also offer referrals to local non-profits that can issue interest deferred loans for paying a deposit or partial rent payment. There is also emergency funds for energy bills. The goal is to prevent homelessness in Jefferson and nearby counties.

Clarion Area Agency On Aging, Inc. focuses on residents who are 55 years of age or older. Receive meals, including congregate and home delivered meals. Seniors can apply for the provision of medical equipment/loan closet. Rides and transportation can be provided to medical appointments or grocery shopping. Apprise Health insurance counseling can help people save money on medical bills. Other programs include PACE information/assistance as well as free legal aid and advice. Clarion County Board Of Public Assistance runs government and public aid for the region. The programs offered include health care, including insurance and general pediatric/physician referral. Job programs include employment training and placement and counseling. Clarion County Housing Authority is located at Eight West Main Street. Call (814) 226-8910. As the name implies the agency focuses on addressing housing, rent, and security deposits. Apply for low income or private housing. Rent and security deposit supplements are offered from Section 8 vouchers. Elderly housing is offered at Edenburg Court- Knox, Cherry Run Estates- Rimersburg and family housing includes Medardo Estates- Rimersburg, Penn Court- Clarion, Hillside Apartments- Clarion.

Salvation Army of Jefferson and Clarion - Programs include emergency food, clothing, lodging, health, medications. Season support includes Christmas kettle campaign and Bundle-Up. General aid for basic needs is provided too. (814) 226-8672. Read more on emergency assistance.

 

 

 

 

Neighbor Aid Program is a regional service that offers financial support for paying utilities, food, vouchers, medical needs, rent, etc. Assistance is only offered for those working individuals and low income who have encountered a serious medical problem or condition that is brought on by an accident, disabling disease or other extreme cause.
