Christian County assistance programs.

Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation - This is the local Christian County Missouri community action agency. Several programs and services are offered.

  • Neighborhood Centers - These are local offices that are located around the area, including in Ozark Missouri. While the exact types of services and resources offered at each office will differ, in general they provide community projects and activities designed to help the low income by eliminating the conditions of poverty and to help families who are in a short term crisis. Emergency funds and grants, while limited, they are available to be used for items such as food, clothing, rent and utilities, prescriptions and more.

  • The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - This has two main components. The first is Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP), which provides help and relief for low income eligible households to alleviate an energy-related crisis during the winter and summer months. Learn more on crisis assistance.

The second is an ongoing Energy Bill Assistance component which provides a one-time cash payment for assistance with winter heating costs for income eligible households.

  • Weatherization - This program provides free energy conserving services to income eligible homeowners or renters to make their home more energy efficient and help them save on their energy bills.

Much of the financial aid is available in the form of referrals. Clients can receive government grants, information on public assistance, loans, and more. Feel free to call Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation to learn more about these programs or other services. Phone (417) 862-4314

Among the other services offered include the ability to out repayment arrangements with creditors (such as debt management) The counselor can help clients get relief from debt collector phone calls, over-limit fees, and late fees with credit card companies and other unsecured debt. So they can help people deal with debts, and also provide longer term solutions. For example, they can assist with budgeting, negotiation, debt management plans and credit education.

Mortgage, foreclosure, and housing solutions are also offered. A housing counselor can provide pre-filing bankruptcy counseling, mortgage delinquency counseling, and pre-foreclosure housing counseling. They can also refer people to government and bank mortgage programs.

Call (417) 889-7474 for debt, credit, and consumer counseling.
