Various services are offered by Catholic Charities. The Diocese supports the regions of Blair and Cambria County as well as the surrounding Central Pennsylvania region. The agency partners with many churches, non-profit agencies, and other charities in the area as well. While direct financial aid is limited, they do administer a number of counseling and other support services to the low income and needy.
Case management and counseling services are available. Catholic Charities offers individual, group, and family programs. They can be offered for numerous needs, including personal issues (marriage) or case management can be provided for other situations as well. This can include housing issues, career counseling and employment services and more. The sessions will be provided by skilled, professional staff that are trained in the issue at hand.
The services in highest demand in Blair County, Johnstown and nearby areas is for emergency financial assistance. This is really in highest demand anywhere that Catholic Charities operates. Many people asking for help are doing so for the first time, mainly as a result of the weak economy or some type of unexpected crisis, such as a job loss or car repair.
In funding allows, financial assistance is offered for needs such as food, rent, or energy bills. Most issues that could potentially lead to evictions or homelessness will take priority. Help is offered to families and individuals in need, regardless of their gender, age, religion, or creed.
Social workers will also try to get people back on the path to stability. So Catholic Charity centers in Pennsylvania will offer classes and sessions for such needs as budget counseling. This is an option for those lower income and struggling families that are experiencing difficulty managing their income and paying their bills.

Adoptions services and programs for new moms are offered. The Catholic Charities center is licensed as a foster and an adoption provider by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. So they are involved in all areas of the adoption process. They may have some basic needs for new parents and moms as well, including baby shoes and clothes, diapers, and information on government benefits and health care for your newest family member.
